HNW Lead Underwriter, Asia

We are partnering with a leading international insurer to hire a Lead Underwriter focused on High Net Worth (HNW) and Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) business across Asia.

This role sits within a specialist underwriting environment focused primarily on Variable Universal Life (VUL) business and complex international wealth planning solutions. The successful candidate will work closely with regional and global stakeholders while supporting the continued growth of the Asia business.

This is more than a traditional underwriting role. The position offers strong visibility across the organisation and the opportunity to contribute to the development and growth of the underwriting capability within Asia.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform complex medical and financial underwriting for HNW and UHNW clients
• Assess large and cross-border underwriting cases across VUL, IUL, UL, and ILP products
• Work closely with brokers, distribution partners, operations, and leadership teams
• Support underwriting governance, quality control, and case management processes
• Provide underwriting insights and support commercial discussions where required
• Contribute to the growth and development of the underwriting proposition within Asia

Requirements

• Proven experience within life insurance underwriting with exposure to HNW or complex cases
• Exposure to Universal Life, VUL, IUL, or Investment-Linked products
• Strong financial and medical underwriting capability
• Solid underwriting authority and risk assessment experience
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Comfortable working within a collaborative and growing environment
