Healthcare Therapy Assistant (Toa Payoh)
Responsibilities
- Support therapists and other professional staff in carrying out prescribed therapy treatment or treatment process.
- To porter clients, such as from the various departments (day care blocks) to the rehab department in accordance to clients treatment schedule.
- To ensure the safety and well-being of the clients under your care at all times. To be aware of safety procedures and never to leave clients unattended.
- To provide person-centric model of care in daily operations.
- To monitor clients during treatment to ensure their safety.
- Assist clients in Activities of Daily Living (ADL), such as:
- Toileting and elimination needs
- Urinary catheterization and care of urinary drainage system (If required)
- To assist clients with other nursing care or first aid (e.g., wound dressing).
- Prepare clients and therapy equipment prior to therapy sessions.
- Support or conduct routine exercises/ group therapy/ activities session as formatted by the therapists.
- Donning and doffing of prosthetics, orthotics etc. when necessary.
- To provide relevant feedback on clients behavior and any observed concers to the therapist.
- Maintain and ensure the proper functioning of therapy equipment. Report any faults or repairs needed promptly.
- Keep the department clean and organized, and ensuring that it is properly secured at the end of each working day.
- To work in liaison with the volunteers who are supporting in client activities/sessions.
- To actively participate in:
- Staff meetings
- Case conference
- In-service and client/caregiver support programmes
- Perform any other duties as required.
Requirements
- Minimum Secondary education or equivalent.
- WSQ Certificate in Healthcare Support (Nursing Care) or other relevant certificate preferred.
- A team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in English or Chinese; ability to converse in local dialects is an advantage.
- Prior experience in caring for clients with dementia is preferred.
