Job Description

Job Summary

Operational Resilience enables the Group to prioritise the most important business services to its customers. It enables the product and segment CEOs to set impact tolerances thresholds for those services and ensures the operational assets which support those services are built, maintained, changed in BAU with resilient service in mind and can continue to provide those services during crisis.

The role-holder is the Subject Matter Expert for Operational Resilience Business Continuity Management and is responsible for the Operational Resilience Standard and the BCM Standard. This includes oversight of consistent methodologies applied across the business and IBS related data and Management Information. The role holder will represent Group Resilience with senior internal and external stakeholders on matters concerning operational resilience and BCM to drive consistent and effective approach in the bank. This includes representing Group Resilience as appropriate across internal committees and forums.

The role holder will have detailed experience and knowledge of how to identify Important Business Services, set impact tolerances and perform end-to-end mapping of operational assets. The role holder will have experience in setting Business Continuity requirements and driving robust assurance with business stakeholders on the effectiveness of their continuity arrangements.

The role holder will set the agenda on how to measure operational resilience and BCM through actionable management information that allows stakeholders to understand any potential weaknesses in resilience.

The role-holder will work closely with key stakeholders across TTO, Business, Technology, Functions and the central Operational Resilience programme to ensure effective delivery of Resilience activities.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for leading the review and update of the Operational Resilience Standard and associated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) ensuring alignment across the business and approval through governance.
  • Ensure Group Operational Resilience Standard is maintained in accordance with the Group wide policy.
  • Responsible for effective assurance process across all components of operational resilience and supporting the business with SME advice on consistent application of the Operational Resilience Standard and SOPs.
  • Responsible for conducting regulatory horizon scanning impact assessments on operational resilience & BCM areas.
  • Perform Risk and Control Self-Assessments and Control Testing for operational resilience at a Group level.
  • Responsible for the IBS mapping system of record from a Group level for operational resilience.
  • Manage Important Business Service (IBS) data including mapping, Impact Tolerances (ITOLs) and vulnerability assessments to ensure operational resilience can be reported and assessed at a Group level.
  • Production of Operational Resilience management information to support senior management decision making on areas of resilience enhancement and investment.
  • Drive Group Resilience strategic tooling implementation ensuring operational resilience requirements are met.
  • Engage with stakeholders across the Group to align on consistent and robust approach to operational resilience that promotes Group-wide resilience.

  • Ensure Operational Resilience Standard algins to the overall Group Resilience Strategy.
  • Engage with Group Resilience stakeholders to ensure operational resilience requirements are embedding across Group Resilience strategy.
  • Align with Group Resilience and wider stakeholders across the organisation on dependencies that could impact operational resilience delivery.

Business

  • Responsible for assurance model to ensure consistent approach to identifying IBS, mapping of operational assets and the setting ITOLs across the Group.
  • Engage with stakeholders in the business to identify and adopt internal and external data to enhance the Group's capabilities to map IBS and to identify IBS and set ITOLs.

Processes

  • Responsible for the Standards and Assurance process
  • Responsible for IBS data and mapping process to support the business in effective IBS operational asset process.

People & Talent

  • Promotes new thinking, creative solutions to ensure timely and effective delivery of the milestones.
  • Promotes lean start-up product development mindset and behaviours at scale.
  • Facilitate on-the-job learning from current & previous experience by identifying and communicating transferable lessons, helping to embed these lessons, and encouraging best practice across geographies team.
  • Be a self-starter who can initiate and successfully drive programmes and projects to completion with little management supervision.

Risk Management

  • Responsible for operational resilience and BCM RCSA process and risk appetite metrics.
  • Ensure operational resilience and BCM related risks are selected appropriately.
  • Identify and support the remediation to any risks in the management of operational resilience by designing operating processes and procedures that sustainably manage both regulatory compliance but effective operational resilience.

Governance

  • Manage the governance of Standard and SOP socialisation and sign off.
  • Manage Operational Resilience assurance activities as to enable effective oversight of the resiliency of our client service.
  • Ensure the Bank's values, standards and code of conduct requirements are integrated into Operational Resilience framework.
  • Ensure compliance with group policies, standards and local regulatory requirements; recommend additions/enhancements/changes to the group policies, standards, guidelines, procedures and controls as appropriate.
  • Represent Group Resilience at related governance forums/committee where required.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Education Degree in a related field and professional accreditation with a related industry body
  • Certifications Business Continuity Management related certification (BCI, DRI etc.)
  • Experience 15+ Years of relevant experience in Operational Resilience
