Job Description

UWCSEA Dover is looking for a Head of Whole School Sport to join our team, starting in August 2026 or earlier if the right candidate is available.

The Head of Whole School Sport is a key member of the UWCSEA Activities Leadership Team and, reporting to the Director of Activities & Sports, will implement a world-class, diverse, and inclusive sports programme from K1 through to G12. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, delivery, and reporting of the Sports Activity Programme, as well as the recruitment of external staff, management of operational expenses, and communication with the wider community. This role also oversees the management of teachers and external coaches-including freelance staff and partner companies-within the sporting programme.

Main Responsibilities

  • Embody and facilitate a clear vision for sport across the breadth of the school - developing clear pathways/journey's for pupils to follow that encompasses Active for Life routes as well as higher level performance.
  • Lead, manage and guide appropriate Heads of Sport in pursuit of the Whole School Sport vision.
  • Engage with School Principals and the Head of Campus, where appropriate, to provide updates / seek support in respect of Whole School sporting developments.
  • Plan and articulate the Whole School Sports programme mission, objectives and training programmes to relevant stakeholders.
  • Recruit, induct, train and monitor sports administrative staff and coaches across the breadth of sporting programme.
  • Manage the sourcing of appropriate storage, pricing and allocation of sports team and staff uniforms
  • Manage and Lead the HS Student-Athlete Committee and support student agency in HS sports
  • Lead the process of communication to students and the wider UWCSEA community regarding sports fixtures and events
  • Take leadership for celebrating appropriate successes to the wider-body of the UWCSEA community.
  • Manage the documentation, review and application of child safeguarding and health and safety policies and ensure associated INSET is provided to key personnel
  • Provide leadership of the UWCSEA facilities, transport, safeguarding, procurement & accounts depts to ensure consistent application of policies & procedures in these areas

Person Specifications

  • University Level Degree in a Sports related subject. (Masters degree desirable)
  • Should have 10 years of experience in a supervisory role / leadership in similar School and/or Sports / Activities club system
  • Passionate about working with children from K1-G12
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work cohesively in a team-based environment as well as independently when required
  • Ability to build high performing sports coaching teams focusing on developing technical skills, physical capacity, life & mental skills, concepts & strategies.
  • Ability to understand and anticipate stakeholders needs, being sensitive to their situations, opinions and culture, and take action to provide high quality training and service opportunities which exceed their expectations.
  • Experience with Google Suites ideal but not essential.
