Johnson & Johnson's external innovation group is searching for a Head of Venture Relations at JLABS Singapore to help build a world-class scientific/technology portfolio and curate our community of investors in life sciences and healthcare across Singapore and the Asia Pacific region.

Responsibilities:
The Head of Venture Relations provides support to the Head of JLABS Singapore in all aspects of building a world-class scientific/technology portfolio and curating and managing our community of investors in life sciences and healthcare across Singapore and Asia Pacific.
Regional Venture Portfolio Management:
- Serve as a critical partner in the regional sourcing team, and aid portfolio sourcing from regional life science investors in J&J's strategic areas of focus
- Identify and monitor potential transformational technologies and shape emerging science to address unmet needs
- Evaluate new technologies and companies for entry into JLABS Singapore
- Collaborate across broader J&J (e.g. ESI AP Search and Evaluation, JJDC and TAs) to support opportunity sourcing and fund raising and management of high-potential companies or portfolio companies
- Collaborate with external partners, including industry professionals, trade associations, government, academia, key opinion leaders and potential sponsors to support opportunity sourcing and support for the regional life science ecosystem
- Oversee engagement and communication across our various investor platforms
Shaping the Regional Venture Ecosystem:
- Lead, grow and manage our community of investors in life sciences and healthcare across Singapore and Asia Pacific
- Connect portfolio companies with life science investors
- Foster local academic, biotech, government and healthcare agency collaboration and awareness
- Identify venture partners who can play a role in company formation
- Landscape and assess tools associated with investment in the Asia Pacific region, metrics related to investment and the regional incentives promoting the life science industry
- Build best practices strategic plans to source portfolio companies, refine existing tools and/or launch new tools for the region from VCs
- Partner with our Strategic Marketing Associate Director with relevant content and programming including JLABS Investor Meet With Series
Venture Relations Leadership:
- Mentor and coach our portfolio of companies in preparation for investment, negotiations and development of their companies and their technologies. This position will help our JLABS portfolio of companies grow faster and more effectively while also providing support for a broader Singaporean ecosystem through coaching, mentorship, and educational programming.
- Design and oversee the development of an educational curriculum, including tactical workshops, pitch sessions and networking, prepare entrepreneurs to sell their science, make essential connections, develop pitch decks, prepare presentations, negotiate with funders and manage equity. This role will also serve as a conduit for innovators from around the world to connect with Singaporean Asia Pacific based investors and strategic partners.
- Serve as venture subject matter expertise for JLABS Singapore press, events, government visits and internal processes
- Perform regular reviews and closely track and report on key KPIs and Metrics
Qualifications:
This is a full-time position. The right candidate for this role is highly networked in the venture ecosystem, analytical and excited to optimize business processes and manage large-scale projects for key stakeholders.
- An advanced degree (PhD or MD and/or MBA) is preferred.
- English and Mandarin business fluency essential as this role will be dealing with stakeholders mainly from China.
- Deep experience in Oncology, Immunology and Neurology a plus
- A Minimum of 10 years of experience and a track record in senior program management is required.
- At least 8 years of relevant professional experience in the healthcare industry and venture/entrepreneurship is required.
- S/he must possess deep experience in program budgeting and fiscal management with experience in business development, technology transfer, management consulting, and/or venture capital investing.
- Experience in the evaluation and execution of a diverse set of business development opportunities is required.
- Demonstrated adaptability to work across functions and therapeutic areas is required.
- Some travel (Regional (China, Korea, Japan) and West and East coast US) will be required.
- This position is located in Singapore and requires willingness to travel (both domestically & internationally) up to 15% of the time.
