Context of the job:
The Head of Treasury Solutions Operations (TSO) is responsible for supervising the delivery teams based in China, Singapore, and India, which handle production for the entities in Hong Kong, Japan, China, and Singapore. The team consists of over 10 members across the processing locations.
The position holder is accountable for the oversight of day-to-day operations and contributes to the definition and implementation of the strategy for Cash activity in APAC. The leader is also responsible for the control framework covering the team's organization, procedures, processes, controls, and systems as a Product Owner.
Scope: Treasury Solutions encompasses the day-to-day processing, control, and monitoring of remittance execution, including eBanking, payment investigations, documentation and account management, reporting, and audit confirmation. The scope pertains to transactions governed by the following Business Lines: Global Trade, Commercial Banking, Real Assets, Acquisition & Strategic Finance, Global Structured Credit & Solutions, Strategic Equity Transactions, and Global Market.
Main responsibilities:
- Oversee the management and strategic direction of Treasury Solutions Operations supporting business activities in the Asia Pacific, in coordination with global and regional management.
- Manage reporting lines across APAC, including performance assessment, objective setting, and compensation reviews.
- Serve as the main interface for Business Lines on all Treasury Solutions-related issues (common tools implementation, process design, transversal projects).
- Create strong and active partnerships with front office and other support functions (within and across platforms) to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality service.
- Maintain a strong connection with Global Process Owners in HO as a key relay in APAC to ensure consistent delivery of service, processes, and related controls and mitigations in alignment with global standards.
- Establish proper homogeneous controls, administration, procedures, and staffing resources to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with regulations and risk control.
- Lead projects for Treasury Solutions Operations: system enhancements, process automation and digitization, and re-engineering to create efficiencies. Responsibilities include managing BCP, new operating models, audits, quality management, SLAs, and budgeting.
- Ensure the Client Centric organization is effectively implemented and performs well. Monitor team performance regarding client service delivery.
- Stay knowledgeable about market and industry trends, competitors, and regulatory developments, ensuring compliance with banking operations.
- As an Agile Leader, manage tribe resources (budget, environment, staff, suppliers), resolve organizational blockers, manage dependencies with stakeholders, foster collaboration across countries, and enforce quality standards across teams.
- Responsible for the adoption of Agile principles and continuously improving practice consistency, quality, and efficiency. This is achieved by, but not limited to, the following:
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies.
- Work with local relays to identify opportunities for performance and delivery improvement. Measure benefits of improvements, particularly regarding the control framework. Continuously improve processes, systems, and tools.
- Develop and implement an improvement plan for the practice (tools, processes, skills). Ensure staff commitment and high motivation, focusing on skills development and fulfillment of team goals. Empower staff to take initiative and lead projects while playing a supportive role.
- Serve as the main interface with corresponding counterparties in other platforms (HO, EMEA, US) on all Treasury Solutions-related issues.
- Improve and streamline functional processes while ensuring compliance and high standards.
- Organize regular community of practice sessions to introduce the latest trends, promote knowledge sharing, and discuss special case studies.
- Advocate for and support change adoption to ensure practices meet and exceed industry standards, remain highly relevant, and efficiently support client needs.
Required Skills:
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant operational experience within Treasury Solutions Operations / Cash Management in a CIB environment, including operations, IT, accounting, and regulatory aspects.
- Excellent technical knowledge of RTGS/CHATS, RMB cross-border payments (including Chinese Commercial Code), SWIFT, FPS, SWIFT messaging conventions, and FATF/AML guidelines in APAC.
- Knowledge Lean principles is a plus.
- Flexible and able to multitask; can work within a fast-moving environment while driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investments in people and systems.
