As the Head of APAC Tax you will be a key part of the Corporate Tax team reporting to the Head of International Tax.
Description
Reporting to the Head of International Tax in the U.S., this senior leadership position will be responsible for tax strategy, providing tax advice/planning for business projects and initiatives, handling tax controversies (including advanced pricing agreements and mutual agreement procedures, and supporting the development of tax policies for Apple's business in the Asia Pacific region (excluding India). This position will work directly with and support the executive management teams and manage a team of 11.
- Tax planning and strategic tax support for Apple's existing business and expansion projects in the Asia Pacific region (excluding India).
- Oversee and provide indirect tax, direct tax, and general tax advice on a variety of transactions.
- Manage strategic relationship with the various tax offices across the region, including managing and leading any tax audits or queries.
- Collaborate with Government Affairs, Legal and others key business partners.
- Working with the Head of Transfer Pricing to oversee Apple's transfer pricing in the Asia Pacific region (excluding India) and intercompany relationships (both domestic and international), including appropriate documentation and agreements.
- Act as primary liaison with external tax advisors.
- Advise and work with US Corporate and Regional teams in respect of the impact of tax regulatory and policy developments on Apple's business in the Asia Pacific region (excluding India).
- Provide meaningful updates to management, as well as timely analysis and advice with respect to actual or proposed tax legislative or regulatory changes that might impact the business.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting, CPA or Chartered Accountant.
- Minimum 18+ years of tax experience, preferably covering the Asia Pacific region, in Corporate and Transaction Taxes. Some industry experience highly preferred.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience manage a team of Tax professionals.
- Must be a self-starter, proactive, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment without close supervision and respond quickly to requests from management and business units.
- Must have proven ability to collaborate with Legal, Technical Accounting, Privacy, and Business team.
- Must have proven ability to manage projects to closure, with attention to detail.
- Must have strong tax research skills and able to provide tax recommendations on complex and ambiguous issues in light of commercial realities.
- Must have proven ability to influence decisions in a multi-functional and international team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong organizational, documentation, oral and written communication skills are essential.
- Strong computer skills.
