Role Purpose
The Head of Strategic Business Development, APAC is responsible for defining and executing the regional growth agenda across APAC, combining country-level strategy, deal origination, and end-to-end sales execution. The role takes an enterprise-wide view of growth, coordinating closely with Country Heads, Sales Leads, and regional stakeholders to build a strong, sustainable pipeline and deliver revenue outcomes.
This role integrates strategic planning, business development, and sales origination & leadership responsibilities, while drawing on strategy and regional coordination elements required to ensure effective solutions are available to support execution across the region.
Key Responsibilities
1. Country & Regional Strategy by Segment
Define and execute country-level growth strategies in collaboration with Client portfolio Leads (Country Heads) by client segment across APAC, aligned with global and regional priorities.
Establish a holistic, enterprise-wide view of regional opportunities and priorities, ensuring consistency and coordination across markets.
Partner with regional and global leadership to ensure alignment between global, regional strategy to local execution.
2. Deal Origination & Pipeline Development
Lead deal origination efforts across existing and prospective clients, identifying, shaping, and prioritising strategic opportunities.
Build and maintain a strong pipeline of new business opportunities across the full portfolio of services and solutions.
Leverage senior-level client engagement to penetrate new organisations and expand relationships with existing clients.
Identification and development of new capabilities that will deepen existing relations and / or open new channels of opportunity across the segments.
3. Sales Execution & Revenue Delivery
Work closely with Sales Leads and regional sales managers to execute opportunities from origination through to close.
Oversee and support the end-to-end sales process, including opportunity qualification, solutioning, pricing, governance, and closure.
Drive accountability for revenue outcomes, ensuring delivery against annual sales and growth targets.
4. Regional Coordination & Country Leadership
Coordinate across APAC with Country Heads, ensuring alignment on priorities, resource deployment, and client coverage.
Establish and lead effective country and regional leadership forums to drive execution of the growth agenda.
Promote a culture of collaboration and a unified one firm approach across countries and business lines.
5. Sales & Market Leadership
Lead the regional sales effort across APAC, overseeing sales teams and regional sales managers.
Build market presence and brand profile, acting as a senior representative in key client, industry, and regulatory engagements.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with regulators and key external stakeholders, where required.
6. Governance, Risk & Culture
Drive a strong culture of risk management, governance excellence, and compliance across the region.
Ensure appropriate oversight, escalation, and management information to support effective decision-making.
Foster high employee engagement, talent development, and succession planning across sales and business development teams.
Background & Experience
Senior leader with a proven track record in business development, sales leadership, and revenue delivery within financial services.
Demonstrated experience in shaping and executing regional or country strategies in complex, matrix organisations.
Strong executive presence with experience engaging C-suite clients and senior internal stakeholders.
Extensive experience building and leading high-performing, geographically distributed teams.
