Head of Software Engineering

Our client is seeking a visionary software engineering leader to drive their software organisation through its next phase of growth and innovation. The role carries full accountability for technical strategy, team leadership, architecture, and AI product development.

The successful candidate will be setting architectural standards, leading a multidisciplinary engineering team, and driving the adoption of AI/ML capabilities across their product suite. You will need to demonstrate the ability to make critical engineering decisions, govern complex distributed systems, and establish best practices for responsible AI development and MLOps.

Key responsibilities -

• 10+ years in software development, with strong full-stack depth and a history of building production-grade systems at scale
• Proven leadership of engineering teams, with the ability to hire, develop, and retain top technical talent
• Hands-on AI/ML experience from model development through to production deployment and ongoing monitoring (Nice to have)
• Fluent in modern architecture patterns — microservices, event-driven design, and cloud-native systems
• A delivery-focused mindset with a track record of shipping complex projects on time and to budget
• Degree-educated in Computer Science or a related discipline; postgraduate qualification an advantage
