Company Overview
Our client is an international energy and resources firm currently undergoing a global expansion of their oil, gas, and LNG shipping operations. They are dedicated to developing an integrated international energy transportation platform, focusing on the strategic import of crude oil, LNG, LPG, and refined petroleum products into major Asian markets. As they scale their fleet and logistics capabilities, they are looking for a commercially astute shipping leader to spearhead their operations from Singapore.
Key Responsibilities
Shipping Operations & Chartering: Lead day-to-day operations for crude oil, LNG, and refined products. Manage spot and term chartering, vessel scheduling, and voyage execution while monitoring freight markets, bunker costs, and demurrage risks.
LNG Logistics Specialization: Oversee specialized LNG shipping logistics, including terminal coordination, vessel compatibility planning, and managing relationships with LNG suppliers and buyers to ensure international safety and maritime compliance.
Vessel Leasing & Asset Management: Evaluate and participate in vessel leasing and charter-in/out arrangements. Provide strategic input on fleet expansion, freight economics, and shipping investment opportunities.
Commercial Business Development: Drive project growth by negotiating freight agreements and transportation contracts. Build and maintain a robust network with energy majors, trading houses, and refineries.
Regional Coordination (Singapore & China): Act as the primary bridge between the Singapore HQ and partners in China. This role requires regular travel to China to facilitate project development and operational alignment.
Compliance & Risk: Ensure all operations adhere to international maritime regulations, sanctions, and safety standards while monitoring geopolitical movements affecting the energy corridor.
Key Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Logistics, International Trade, or a related discipline.
Experience: At least 8 years of relevant experience in tanker shipping, LNG operations, chartering, or vessel leasing.
Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience in LNG shipping operations or logistics is highly preferred. Deep understanding of charter party terms, voyage management, and vessel leasing structures.
Travel: Willingness to travel frequently to China and other overseas locations for business meetings and project oversight.
Network: An existing network within shipbrokers, energy traders, or leasing companies is a significant advantage.
