Head of Risk HFT Quant Trading
Location: Singapore (relocation possible for the right candidate)
We are working with a leading HFT global proprietary trading firm seeking a Head of Risk to lead and enhance risk management frameworks for a high-performance automated trading environment.
This is a highly quantitative role requiring deep expertise in statistics, systematic trading risk, and real-time pre-trade controls across electronic markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of pre-trade risk frameworks for systematic and automated trading strategies.
- Build and maintain automated risk management systems aligned with exchange rules and market microstructure constraints.
- Translate exchange rulebooks and trading limits into enforceable risk controls within trading infrastructure.
- Develop real-time monitoring and control mechanisms to ensure trading activity remains within regulatory and exchange parameters.
- Partner closely with trading, technology, and quantitative research teams to integrate risk controls into low-latency trading systems.
- Oversee hardware-level risk controls, including implementations on FPGA and other low-latency architectures.
- Establish best practices around risk modelling, statistical monitoring, and trading limit governance across multiple asset classes and venues.
- Provide leadership and bring deep domain expertise to strengthen the firm's risk framework as trading activity continues to scale globally.
Requirements
- Strong background in quantitative methods, statistics, or a related mathematical discipline (essential).
- Extensive experience in systematic trading risk management within a proprietary trading firm, hedge fund, or electronic market maker.
- Deep understanding of exchange rulebooks, market structure, and automated trading risk controls.
- Experience designing pre-trade and real-time risk systems for high-frequency or low-latency trading environments.
- Familiarity with hardware-accelerated trading systems (FPGA) is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, and multicultural environment with strong communication skills.
- Leadership experience and the ability to bring strategic expertise to build and evolve a best-in-class risk platform.
