Leadership/Vision

  • Align vision and direction for new Junior Programme and conceptualise appropriate instructional initiatives that are in line with the school's strategic plan and needs of the students.
  • Provide professional leadership for the areas-in charge so as to ensure high quality teaching and ensure improved standards of student outcomes.
  • Design and spearhead the implementation of the curriculum of the 6 learning domains and new initiatives.
  • Communicate and lead the new Junior Programme in initiatives and duties which will bring out positive school effectiveness and improvement.
  • Communicate with different stakeholders and foster positive and effective collaborations.

Strategic Planning and Administration

  • Contribute to school's new Junior Programme, strategic planning and review process.
  • Set well defined department goals, objectives and performance targets.
  • Prepare action plans which includes scheme of work and deployment of staff.
  • Oversee setting of assessment tools to ensure consistency and relevance.
  • Conceptualise and introduce appropriate activities and programmes that are in line with school goals.
  • Work with senior teachers/subject heads to ensure consistency in the delivery and assessment of subject.
  • Work with coordinators to plan and monitor programmes/events/initiatives.

Development and Management of Staff and Level Teachers/Teacher-aides/Coordinators

  • Guide and lead the team in the implementation of school initiatives.
  • Provide feedback and act as mentor to the staff on issues relating to the curriculum, teaching and learning, class management and communication with parents.
  • Check level teachers weekly lesson plans and provide monthly level report on teaching-learning, staff morale, school programme and students performance to the Principal/Vice Principal.
  • Supervise and monitor progress and achievement of work outcomes of teachers.
  • Review and evaluate the performance of teachers/teacher aides.
  • Provide feedback and mentoring to help teachers improve their performance level.
  • Identify training and developmental needs for teachers and plan for relevant training activities.
  • Involve staff in projects/programmes to optimize their potential and develop their capability.
  • Provide an effective communication link between the senior management of the school and the area/s of delegated responsibility.

Professional Development

  • Engage in continual development in professional expertise, managerial and leadership skills.
  • Act as mentor to teachers.
  • Facilitate professional development of subject teachers by doing professional sharing.

Management of Processes

  • Monitor and assess students performance and development.
  • Conduct data analysis of results and evaluate learning outcomes of instructional programmes under department/committee.
  • Structure new programmes/ workshops to introduce new teaching methodologies to improve learning outcomes.
  • Explore various assessment modes and use information for improving students outcomes.

Management of Resources

  • Plan and manage allocated budget for instructional programmes.
  • Oversee the proper allocation, management and usage of teaching-learning resources.

Administrative Duties

  • Undertake and oversee administrative duties specified by the Principal.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience in instructional learning, curriculum framework development, and team leadership within a SPED school environment.
  • Recognised Diploma in Special Education, Diploma/Degree in Education, or Postgraduate Diploma in Education is required.
  • Prior experience working with students with Mild Intellectual Disability (MID) and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is preferred.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring Senior Teachers, monitoring and evaluating school-wide curriculum plans, and leading curriculum development.
  • Dynamic and motivated individual with strong organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Willing to work occasionally after school hours and on weekends.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
