Job Summary
Lead and manage the Procurement & Tender team to oversee sourcing, procurement, and tendering activities, ensuring timely project execution and cost-effective procurement within the construction and M&E industry. The successful candidate will develop procurement strategies, manage supplier relationships, and lead the team to achieve operational excellence and business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, coach, and develop the Procurement & Tender team to enhance performance, capability, and productivity.
- Oversee the sourcing and procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractors to meet project and operational requirements.
- Manage the end-to-end tender process, including reviewing tender documents, preparing cost estimates, coordinating tender submissions, and ensuring compliance with client requirements.
- Evaluate quotations and proposals to ensure cost competitiveness, quality, and compliance with project specifications.
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing, favourable commercial terms, and long-term business partnerships.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, clients, consultants, and business partners.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, and project specifications.
- Monitor market trends, material pricing, supplier performance, and industry developments to support strategic procurement decisions.
- Collaborate closely with the Operations, Project, Finance, and Quantity Surveying (QS) teams to ensure timely procurement and smooth project execution.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to improve cost efficiency, operational effectiveness, and supply chain performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, reduce costs, minimise procurement risks, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Prepare procurement reports, cost analyses, supplier evaluations, and management reports for senior management.
- Support management in budgeting, forecasting, procurement planning, and contract management activities.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials and services to support project schedules and business operations.
Preferred Competencies & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Quantity Surveying, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8-10 years of relevant procurement and tendering experience, preferably within the construction or M&E industry.
- Proven experience in leading procurement and tender teams.
- Strong knowledge of procurement practices, tendering procedures, contract administration, supplier management, and cost control.
- Experience in evaluating tenders, negotiating commercial contracts, and managing supplier performance.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and procurement/tender management systems.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of working independently as well as collaboratively across departments.
