Role Description
The Head of Legal Intelligence / Regulatory Research Director is responsible for leading legal intelligence initiatives, regulatory research programs, and compliance analysis activities to support enterprise governance, strategic decision-making, and regulatory readiness. This executive role focuses on legal research, policy analysis, regulatory monitoring, governance advisory, and risk intelligence while ensuring the organization remains compliant with evolving legal and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing legal intelligence strategies, regulatory monitoring frameworks, and governance research initiatives aligned with organizational objectives
- Leading legal and regulatory research activities related to corporate governance, compliance obligations, industry regulations, and operational risk management
- Monitoring regulatory KPIs, compliance indicators, legal risk trends, policy developments, and governance performance outcomes
- Collaborating with executive leadership, legal counsel, compliance teams, risk management, operations, and external regulatory bodies on governance initiatives
- Conducting regulatory impact assessments, policy evaluations, and legal analysis to identify organizational risks and strategic opportunities
- Supporting enterprise compliance programs, governance reviews, and legal advisory initiatives across business functions
- Preparing executive legal intelligence reports, regulatory updates, and strategic recommendations for board and leadership review
- Driving process improvement, governance enhancement, and operational efficiency initiatives across legal intelligence and regulatory functions
- Managing legal databases, regulatory tracking systems, governance reporting platforms, and operational documentation repositories
- Supporting investigations, audit coordination, litigation preparation, and remediation tracking activities where applicable
- Leading workforce awareness programs, compliance communication initiatives, and regulatory education efforts across the organization
- Staying updated on emerging laws, international regulations, governance frameworks, AI-related legal developments, and industry-specific compliance trends
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB), Public Policy, Political Science, Business Administration, or related field
- Master's degree, Bar qualification, or certifications in compliance, governance, or regulatory affairs are advantageous
- 8–15 years of experience in legal research, regulatory compliance, governance advisory, policy analysis, or legal intelligence leadership roles
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, legal research methodologies, governance standards, and enterprise risk management practices
- Experience managing regulatory monitoring programs, legal intelligence initiatives, and strategic governance projects
- Familiarity with legal research platforms, GRC systems, compliance reporting tools, and regulatory databases is advantageous
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication, executive reporting, and stakeholder management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple enterprise governance priorities and regulatory initiatives effectively
- Experience in banking, fintech, healthcare, telecommunications, SaaS, energy, manufacturing, government agencies, or multinational enterprise environments is an advantage
