Our client, a renowned international education group establishing its new campus in Singapore, is seeking a Head of Information Technology (IT).
The Head of IT will provide strategic and operational leadership for all technology across the school, ensuring a robust, future-ready digital ecosystem that supports academic excellence, safeguarding, and operational efficiency. This role requires a forward-thinking leader with strong judgement, calm execution, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex, cross-border educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. IT Strategy & Digital Transformation
- Develop and execute a forward-looking IT and digital strategy that positions the school in the top quadrant among its peer institutions.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and trends in education to ensure long-term relevance, scalability, and value.
- Balance innovation with stability, security, and cost-effectiveness.
2. Governance, Planning & Investment Management
- Assess technology investments by clearly articulating costs vs. long-term benefits, risks, and return on value.
- Prepare detailed technical and financial proposals for leadership approval.
- Execute approved plans within agreed budgets and timelines.
- Ensure strong documentation, governance, and reporting throughout project lifecycles.
3. Infrastructure & Systems Oversight
Be accountable for the smooth, secure, and uninterrupted operation of all IT systems, including but not limited to:
Hardware:
- Smart boards and classroom technology
- Digital clocks
- Wi-Fi networks, access points, routers
- Servers, firewalls, and core network infrastructure
- Laptops, iPads, charging stations, and end-user devices
Software & Platforms:
- Google Workspace (Google School environment)
- Educational, learning, and safeguarding platforms
- Enterprise systems such as Oracle (Finance)
- Other third-party and school-specific applications
4. Project Delivery & Change Management
- Lead large-scale technology initiatives involving software changes, hardware refreshes, or integrated transformations.
- Understand and manage the complexities, dependencies, and risks inherent in large IT projects.
- Ensure minimal disruption to teaching, learning, and school operations during transitions.
5. Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Building
- Build trusted relationships with the academic leadership team, teachers, and staff.
- Demonstrate strong social and communication skills to foster open dialogue and understand the real operational and educational needs of the school.
- Act as a strategic partner to educators, translating educational needs into effective technology solutions.
6. Vendor & Partner Management
- Liaise directly with IT vendors and service providers, either personally or through the IT team, across both schools.
- Negotiate contracts, manage SLAs, and ensure high service standards.
- Ensure accountability and performance from all external partners.
7. Compliance, Risk & Operational Excellence
- Establish and enforce robust processes to track and manage:
- Software licenses
- Certifications
- Warranties
- Support and maintenance contracts
- Ensure renewals are planned well in advance to prevent service disruptions.
- Maintain strong cybersecurity, data protection, and safeguarding standards appropriate for an international school environment.
8. New School Setup & Operational Flexibility
- Support the formation of a new school, addressing startup challenges with agility and pragmatism.
- Be flexible and solution-oriented, including responding to critical issues outside regular working hours when required.
- Build scalable systems and processes that can grow with the school.
