Job Description

A leading global pharma organisation is seeking a Head of Human Resources for the South East Asia region, based in Singapore. This is an exceptional opportunity to shape and drive HR strategy across multiple countries, including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam. The role offers you the chance to make a meaningful impact on both business outcomes and employee experiences by fostering a collaborative, open, and inclusive environment.

What you'll do:

As Head of Human Resources South East Asia, you will be responsible for steering HR operations across four diverse markets. Your day-to-day activities will involve collaborating with senior business leaders to align people strategies with commercial goals while nurturing an inclusive culture that values feedback and teamwork. You will champion employee engagement initiatives, oversee talent management programmes from recruitment through succession planning, and ensure compliance with local labour laws. By leveraging your expertise in change management and organisational development, you will help build resilient teams capable of thriving in a rapidly evolving industry. Your success will be measured by your ability to foster trust among employees, facilitate cross-functional collaboration, and drive continuous improvement in leadership capabilities throughout the region.

  • Lead all human resources practices across South East Asia, ensuring alignment with local legislative requirements and cultural nuances.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor HR priorities, policies, and deliverables that directly contribute to achieving business objectives in the region.
  • Act as a strategic HR business partner for senior leaders including the General Manager and functional heads to build effective teams and organisational culture.
  • Cultivate a winning mindset within the organisation by driving continuous improvement in management skills and leadership capabilities.
  • Implement HR processes and standards tailored to each country's legal framework while maintaining consistency with global best practices.
  • Create an open environment for employees to share feedback freely and for leaders to respond thoughtfully, promoting a healthy workplace culture.
  • Independently investigate employee relations issues and resolve them with sensitivity and fairness.
  • Contribute as an important member of the regional HR Leadership Team to develop and execute people strategies at both local and regional levels.
  • Collaborate closely with Centres of Excellence in Rewards, Talent Acquisition, Development, Engagement, and Performance Management to attract and retain top talent.
  • Support change management initiatives by partnering with global/regional teams on organisational effectiveness projects.

What you bring:

To excel as Head of Human Resources South East Asia, you will bring extensive experience from multinational environments where you have partnered closely with business leaders on strategic HR initiatives. Your interpersonal skills will allow you to connect authentically with colleagues from diverse backgrounds while demonstrating sensitivity towards their unique perspectives. You will possess deep knowledge of regional employment legislation combined with practical expertise in implementing policies that balance global standards with local realities. Your background should include successfully navigating complex employee relations issues using compassion and fairness. Additionally, your proficiency in digital HR tools will streamline operational processes while supporting innovative learning solutions. Above all else, your collaborative approach will inspire trust among stakeholders as you work together towards shared goals.

  • University degree with fluency in English for both oral and written communication is essential for effective stakeholder engagement across SEA.
  • Professional training or certifications in human resources are highly desirable as they demonstrate your commitment to ongoing learning.
  • At least ten years experience within multinational companies operating in Healthcare related industries or FMCG sectors is required for understanding complex market dynamics.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of SEA market labour laws, local regulations, and cultural sensitivities is vital for successful policy implementation.
  • Proven track record as an HR Business Partner working alongside senior leaders to drive high performance organisations is necessary.
  • Experience managing employee relations matters with empathy and discretion is crucial for maintaining harmonious workplaces.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams through collaboration rather than hierarchy is highly valued.
  • Expertise in change management initiatives including talent development, succession planning, and organisational effectiveness projects is important.
  • People management experience either through direct reporting lines or influencing others within matrix structures is required.
  • Familiarity with HRIS/ERP systems such as Workday or online learning platforms will enable efficient process management.
