Job Description

Job Summary

The role holder is responsible for the overall planning, development and driving of HR strategies at the group level, including development of retention and learning and development strategies. The job holder will act as an advisor to senior leadership on all HR matters and focus on the implementation of HR strategies and practices that will support robust business growth and reinforce a performance focused culture.

Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Develops the strategy for the Department in line with the stated Group priorities
  • Leads the preparation and management of annual budget for the Department in conjunction with the Group's budget and secures subsequent approval, tracks expenditure and ensures adherence to the budget
  • Maintains requisite level of productivity and efficiency within the Department for ensuring cost effective and high performing culture
  • Defines the operating framework and policies for the Departmentand ensures compliance with internal quality standards
  • Liaises with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of services within and outside the Department

Core Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and drives the organization's requirements pertaining to Organizational Development, Compensation and Benefits management, Recruitment, Business Partnership and Training & Development
  • Ensures appropriate systems and processes are in place to enable effective people capability , while appropriately managing people risk and ensuring the HR processes are implemented and used effectively and strategically across the organization
  • Leads the design and implementation of people management and development programs, and supporting the senior leadership team in the delivery and implementation of these programs
  • Provides strategic HR leadership ensuring that there is the necessary capability, systems and processes in place, to achieve a smooth and effective service to employees and its customers
  • Ensures effective structures and systems are in place to provide the required human resources services, i.e. recruitment, payroll, performance management etc.
  • Provides advice and guidance on all people related matters to the senior management and the Board
  • Develops appropriate policies to support employment relations, business collaboration, employee wellbeing, and ensures these policies comply with employment legislation and best practice
  • Leads the development of proactive and effective recruitment and retention strategies, to ensure a sustainable organization
  • Ensures a robust workforce plan is in place that meets operational needs and can be delivered within the agreed annual budgets
  • Develops and maintains appropriate succession planning and talent management frameworks to adequately address future skill requirements

People Management:

  • Set goals and key performance indicators for the team.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to support the team's development.
  • Promote a culture of continuous feedback and performance improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Business Administration or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience across human capital, with at least 5 years of leadership experience in managing a human resources department.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Candidates with experience in the retail sector, especially multi-retailer, apparel, or clothing retail, will be given preference.
