Job Purpose
The purpose of the role is to outline and lead the technological vision and oversee all technical aspects of the Frontend technology team whilst remaining hands on. Working as part of the management team, this position will play a vital role in growing the company and its UI delivery. Championing the best development practices, keeping the large codebase to top industry standards and ensuring full trust from the team and stakeholders is essential.
Responsibilities
- Develop all technical aspects of Frontend strategy to ensure alignment with the company's business goals
- Build and manage Frontend team operations from the group up, recruiting, bonding, motivating and training high quality developers
- Take architectural decisions that will impact the entire Frontend and wider development department of the company
- Create and oversee high-level KPIs for the Frontend team
- Liaise laterally with other development managers to coordinate, resource and motivate to ensure the best outcome for the wider department
- Liaise with Executive Management Team to align on business needs, technology needs, communicate achievements, shortcomings and the needs of the frontend department
- Review product designs before they reach development squads to ensure the UI retains high standards of user experience and design
- Take a proactive approach to application security and work with the Security team to maintain high standards
- Build robust quality assurance processes within the Frontend development team
- Keep a culture of training and skills development and ensure that Frontend team stay on top of the fast-paced frontend environment
- Follow new technology trends and exploit emerging standards for the benefit of the business, its products and services, and its people
- Remove technical obstacles, enhance team processes, efficiently and effectively handle resource issues and interact with varied members to assure timely product delivery
- Organise activities for team bonding, training and tech innovation
- Directly contribute to the development of a world leading FX trading platform
- Create, improve, optimise and maintain all elements of BidFX frontend software
- Troubleshoot relevant production issues and support incident response
Knowledge and Experience
- At least 5 years of IT management experience with a team of 8 or more
- At least 8 years of hands-on development experience related to designing and building complex
- platforms, ideally in the FX market
- Degree in software engineering, computer science of related field
- Expert knowledge of modern syntax JavaScript and TypeScript.
- Excellent knowledge of using and designing REST APIs and web-socket solutions
- Expert knowledge of multiple Frontend frameworks including React
- Expert knowledge of desktop containers such as Electron, OpenFin or Tauri
- Expert knowledge of Chromium, Chrome and other browser solutions
- Excellent knowledge of Frontend architectures
