Role Summary
This role owns the company's finance function end-to-end: cash and treasury, budgeting, statutory and tax compliance, banking and entity structure, and capex/royalty tracking. The role is being hired as the company's sole senior finance lead in the first instance: weekly payment processing and bookkeeping are run on an interim basis by an outsourced accounting/managed-services provider, and the incoming hire owns the decision on whether and when to build an in-house role to take that over.
Key Responsibilities
Cash, Treasury & Banking
• Own the Group's consolidated cash position and rolling cash-flow forecast across all entities and multi-currency across operating jurisdictions, including inter-entity transfers and cross-border treasury flows.
• Set and monitor minimum cash buffers per entity/country.
• Manage banking relationships across all jurisdictions and hold signatory authority alongside the CEO.
• Own the weekly payment cycle and emergency-payment approvals from Day 1. AP processing and bookkeeping/receipt reconciliation are run by an outsourced provider on an interim basis, but remain under this role's oversight — the provider works to agreed SLAs for turnaround, accuracy and multi-currency handling, with the Head of Finance retaining final payment approval.
Budgeting & Financial Planning
• Run the Group's budgeting cycle: consolidate department and country budgets and hold budget holders accountable for variances.
• Maintain the Group financial policy — approval thresholds, payment cycle rules and documentation requirements.
Statutory, Tax & Compliance
• Own statutory and IFRS financial reporting and audit delivery across Singapore and international holding entities.
• Ensure government compliance are met in each operating jurisdiction, working with local tax and corporate secretarial agents.
• Partner with Legal and other functions on new entity setup, owning the finance and banking workstream
Capex & Cost Oversight
• Track capex for business activities and link it to the Group cash forecast.
• Provide financial input into project and investment decisions.
Governance & Reporting
• Prepare CEO and Board financial reporting; support fundraising, investor and audit processes as needed.
• Maintain sound financial control structure as company scales.
Team & Build-Out Decision
• Within an agreed period after starting (e.g., 3–6 months), assess whether transaction volume and complexity justify an in-house role or continued outsourcing, and present a recommendation to the CEO.
• If hiring in-house: scope the role, lead recruitment, and manage the handover from outsourced provider.
• If continuing to outsource: the outsourced provider remains under this role's direct oversight — SLA performance, cost, and final payment/approval authority stay with the Head of Finance.
Requirements
• Professional accounting qualification (CA/CPA/ACCA or equivalent), with 10+ years in progressively senior finance roles.
• Candidates with experience in mining or mineral exploration/development environments preferred.
• Track record running multi-entity, multi-currency finance functions — IFRS consolidation, cross-border cash management, FX exposure.
• Comfortable as the sole senior finance lead — hands-on with treasury and payment execution while also handling strategic and Board-level work.
• Proven ability to hold financial discipline while maintaining strong working relationships with non-finance colleagues; enforces control through process and policy, not personal confrontation
• Able to work flexible hours to accommodate payment processing and coordination across international time zones
• Experience managing outsourced or offshore finance/accounting providers, including SLA-setting and build-vs-outsource decision-making.
• Strong stakeholder management with the CEO, Board, auditors, bankers and government agencies.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-scaling, founder-led environment where processes are still being built, you create structure rather than expect it.
• Maintain the Group's banking and signatory register and ensure continuity documentation for all finance-critical relationships and access
• Proficiency in English and Chinese languages.
• Willing to travel as required.
