Head of Engineering

Job Description

We are looking for a Head of Engineering who will own technical architecture and long-term platform strategy. Build and lead a high-performance engineering team. Drive execution from a 0-1 scale. Partner directly with the founder on product and technology vision. This is a hands-on org leadership role. The core responsibilities for the job include the following: Architecture and Platform Thinking: - Define the long-term system architecture for AtomicAds. - Evaluate and lead the evolution from a Django monolith to modular / microservices architecture. - Design systems for: Real-time campaign monitoring, QA and validation pipelines, and AI-driven optimisation loops. - Make critical decisions on: Service boundaries, Data architecture, Event-driven systems, and API design across DSP integrations. Engineering Execution and Delivery: - Own end-to-end delivery velocity and quality. - Build scalable backend systems (Python, Django, FastAPI). - Ensure strong: Code quality, Testing discipline, and Production reliability. - Drive a fast shipping culture with high standards. Team Building and Leadership: - Hire and scale a world-class engineering team (India-first). - Mentor engineers across: Backend, Frontend, Infrastructure. - Build a culture of: Ownership, Agentic Building, System thinking, Speed + accountability. AI and Agentic Systems Integration: - Partner with AI/ML team to productionize: Optimisation algorithms, Contextual intelligence systems. - Design infrastructure for: Autonomous decision-making loops, Feedback systems, and Experimentation frameworks. Infrastructure and Scale: - Own cloud architecture (AWS). - Build systems for: High availability, Observability, Cost optimisation. - Lead decisions on: Compute scaling, Data pipelines, and Real-time processing. Product and Customer Collaboration: - Work closely with: Founder (product vision), PMs (execution), Customers (feedback loops). - Ensure engineering builds: What matters, What scales, What delivers ROI. Requirements: - 12+ years in software engineering. - 4+ years in engineering leadership roles. - Experience building systems from scratch and scaling them. Technical Depth: - Strong backend expertise (Python preferred). - Experience with Django / FastAPI / Flask and PostgreSQL / MySQL. - Strong system design fundamentals: Monolith vs. microservices trade-offs, distributed systems, Event-driven architecture. Scalability Mindset: - Built or scaled systems handling: High data volumes, ETL Pipelines, Real-time processing. - Experience with AWS infrastructure. Polyglot Advantage: - Exposure to high-performance systems (Go / Rust) is a strong plus. - Proven ability to: Hire strong engineers, Mentor and grow teams. - Technical thought leadership for senior leadership, customers, and forums (AtomicAds | AtomicAds).
