Job Summary
The Head of Delivery - Projects leads the successful execution of all organizational projects, ensuring timely, quality delivery within scope and budget. This role aligns project outcomes with strategic goals while managing risks, resources, and stakeholder expectations.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the end-to-end delivery of projects to ensure completion on time, within scope, and budget
- Establish and enforce project governance, delivery standards, and best practices to maintain quality and efficiency
- Monitor project health using KPIs, dashboards, and reporting to track progress and identify issues
- Manage the organization's project portfolio by prioritizing projects aligned with strategic objectives
- Allocate resources optimally across projects to maximize delivery performance
- Drive continuous improvements in delivery performance and project management processes
- Lead, mentor, and develop project managers, program managers, and delivery teams to build a high-performance organization
- Develop and implement project management capabilities, frameworks, and methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid)
- Support recruitment and development of delivery talent to strengthen team capabilities
- Serve as senior escalation point for project delivery issues and resolve conflicts effectively
- Maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders to ensure alignment and satisfaction
- Provide executive-level updates on project performance to senior leadership and stakeholders
- Manage project budgets, revenue targets, and cost controls to meet financial performance goals
- Monitor project profitability and margin performance to ensure commercial success
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to minimize impact on delivery
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and compliance requirements through audits and performance reviews
- Establish delivery frameworks, tools, and governance models to support consistent project execution
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, IT, or related field
- MBA or relevant master's degree
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification
- PRINCE2 certification
- Agile / Scrum certifications
- 12-18+ years of experience in IT project delivery or technology consulting
5-10+ years in leadership roles managing large delivery teams
Experience delivering large-scale enterprise technology programs
Experience with Agile and DevOps delivery models
Experience managing multi-million-dollar IT projects - Software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile, Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), DevOps and CI/CD tools, Enterprise architecture, System integration and APIs, Cybersecurity and compliance practices
