Job Description

Dymon Asia is looking for a Head of Commodities Analytics to lead and scale the analytics function supporting commodities strategies across various exchanges. Thisperson will own the build-out of the systematic infrastructure and drive the analytical framework underpinning cross-commodity relative value, macro-linked factors, and systematic alpha generation through both quantitative and discretionary approaches. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise combined with the seniority to set research direction, partner closely with Commodities PMs, and shape how the analytics function grows.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the design, development, and ongoing enhancement of systematic commodities infrastructure across various markets.
  • Directing analysis of economic and financial indicators across the commodities complex to inform strategy and positioning.
  • Partnering with the PM at a senior level on model architecture, calibration, and trade monitoring - not simply assisting but co-owning the analytical process.
  • Owning and articulating the investment thesis and portfolio views, translating systematic signals into clear strategic narrative.
  • Leading fundamental and macroeconomic research to complement systematic signals and inform model calibration.
  • Setting the research agenda for the function and mentoring analysts/quant researchers as the team scales.
  • Establishing frameworks, processes, and best practices to support a growing Commodities pipeline.
  • Advice on Commodities landscape and drive strategy direction as Commodities asset allocation grows.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in systematic or hybrid systematic-discretionary commodities trading, with deep expertise across multiple sub-sectors (energy, metals, agriculture).
  • Track record designing, testing, deploying, and scaling quantitative models using statistical, econometric, or machine-learning techniques.
  • Ability to drive research independently and direct broader research initiatives.
  • Sound investment framework, strong portfolio management skills, and proven risk management experience within PM-level risk limits.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and scale a systematic pipeline and infrastructure from the ground up.
  • Experience building a Commodities research function within a Hedge Fund, Bank or Trading House.
  • A strong, well-defined investment process and framework is a must.
  • Masters or PHD in relevant field of Research.
  • Strong quantitative skill set is a meaningful differentiator.
  • Advanced programming or quantitative analysis skills (Python, R, MATLAB, etc.) advantageous.
  • Ability to partner at a senior level with the various Commodities PMs and help shape the wider research agenda.
