We are partnering with an integrated logistics player in the hunt for the Head of Commercial to lead the company's commercial strategy and growth across shipping, logistics, warehousing, and integrated supply chain solutions. Reporting to the CEO and Board, this role is responsible for driving revenue growth, profitability, market expansion, strategic partnerships, and key customer relationships across regional markets.
Key responsibilities include leading P&L performance, developing new trade lanes and business opportunities, overseeing pricing and tender strategies, strengthening partnerships with carriers and logistics providers, and building a high-performing commercial and sales organisation.
The role will also drive strategic account growth, lead major customer negotiations, support regional expansion initiatives, and ensure strong commercial governance, profitability, and operational alignment across all business activities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the company's overall commercial strategy across shipping, logistics, warehousing, and integrated supply chain solutions.
- Drive revenue growth, profitability, market expansion, and strategic business development initiatives.
- Develop new trade lanes, customer segments, and regional growth opportunities.
- Manage key customer relationships, major contract negotiations, and strategic partnerships.
- Oversee commercial performance including pricing, tenders, forecasting, budgeting, and P&L management.
- Build and lead a high-performing sales and account management organisation.
- Strengthen partnerships with carriers, logistics providers, agents, and regional stakeholders.
- Support regional expansion, new business verticals, and potential M&A opportunities.
- Ensure strong commercial governance, margin control, and alignment with operational capabilities.
- Work closely with the CEO and senior leadership team to drive long-term business growth and market positioning.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Maritime Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of senior commercial experience in shipping, logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain, marine logistics, or related industries with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record of leading large-scale commercial functions and delivering strong revenue
- Strong understanding of ocean freight, regional shipping networks, feeder services, contract logistics, warehousing, customs brokerage, cross-border trucking, and multi-modal logistics.
- Deep knowledge of South East Asia trade lanes and regional logistics markets.
- Established relationships with major shippers, carriers, shipping lines, 3PLs, agents, port operators, and strategic logistics partners.
- Strong P&L management capability with experience in budgeting, forecasting, yield management, pricing strategy, and commercial performance analysis.
- Proven ability to lead complex negotiations with C-suite customers, procurement leaders, carriers, and strategic partners.
- Strong experience in tender management, key account development, trade lane growth, and strategic partnership building.
- Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and scale high-performing commercial teams across markets.
- Strong business judgement, executive presence, and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Data-driven and commercially disciplined, with the ability to translate market insight into profitable business action.
