Job Description

We are seeking this position to start in January 2027.

Reports to: AssistantPrincipal (Assessment & Technology for Learning)

Responsibility Allowance: 4 points

TeachingLoad: 13 (of 25) lessons perweek

PrimaryResponsibility:

Topassionately inspire students with a stimulating, challenging, and enjoyablelearning experience, both in and beyond the classroom. This role extends beyondacademic instruction to fostering critical thinking, creativity, and a lifelonglove of learning, empowering students to thrive holistically and achieve theirfull potential within the supportive ethos of SJI International, whileupholding the highest standards of safeguarding and student well-being.

SpecificResponsibilities:

Leadership:

. Represent the Arts Faculty and contribute tothe school's academic strategy by participating fully in meetings of theFaculty

. Lead the performance review process for thedepartments you lead

. Encourage all members of the Faculty torecognise and fulfil their responsibilities to keep up to date withdevelopments in the Arts and in teaching best practice

. Identify and provide opportunities for Artsteachers to participate in CPD

. Promote interest in and enjoyment of theFaculty subjects through regular trips, exhibitions and clubs

. Identify and manage resources needed to meetthe needs of the Faculty and, with the Heads of Department, identify prioritiesfor expenditure

. Insist upon high standards throughout theFaculty, including the meeting of deadlines, marking, report-writing and themaintenance of a stimulating learning environment

. Oversee the completion of an annual analysisof examination results for the Faculty and, with the line manager of the ArtsFaculty, agree on any action arising from such an analysis

. Lead in the school's production programmeplanning

. Allocate dedicated time and resources for theHead of Departments in your faculty to develop materials, particularly for newor changing syllabi

. Audit and advocate for specialized technologyand equipment, including securing class sets of student devices and ensuringadequate facilities

Teaching and Learning:

. Identify and adopt the most effective active,creative teaching approaches for SJII students in line with current bestpractice and the ethos of our school

. Workwith other members of the Faculty to apply consistent standards in thefollowing: curriculum planning and delivery formative and summative assessmentthrough classwork, homework and formal examination standardisation andmoderation of the examinations process

. Createa stimulating learning environment, including displays of student work

. Teachacross the age and ability ranges from Foundation IGCSE (Grades 7 &8) through to IGCSE (Grades 9 & 10), to the IB Diploma Programme (Grades 11& 12) [IBDP/A-Level experience is an advantage]

. Identifyand take advantage of opportunities to use resources offered within and beyondSingapore to take learning outside the classroom

. Adoptstrategies and monitor teaching and learning activities to support individualswith SEN/ESL in line with school and faculty policy

. Ensurecompliance with all rules regarding health and safety in the classroom

. Setand mark homework regularly in line with school and faculty policy

. Identifyand teach study skills/strategies that will develop students ability to workindependently

. Take part in the process and marking of theExtended Essay component of the IB Diploma

Assessment, Recording and Reporting:

. Setclear targets for raising achievement

. Collectand record assessment data

. Complywith established systems for identifying, assessing and reviewing studentprogress

. Developan understanding of different learning needs and the importance of raisingachievement among students

. Attend parentconferences and keep parents informed about their child's progress, bothformally through regular assessments and written reports, and informallythrough effective communication

Standards and Quality Assurance:

. Supportthe aims and ethos of SJII as a Catholic, Lasallian school

. Supportthe school's established CASL (Creativity, Activity, Service, Lasallian)program

. Seta good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance

. Attendand participate in open evenings and student performances

. Upholdthe school's behaviour code and uniform regulations

. Activelyparticipate in the school's professional growth and development system

. Attendteam and staff meetings

Other Duties and Responsibilities

. Contribute significantly to the service,sport, pastoral, activity programmes, outdoor education and overseasexpeditions, demonstrating a commitment to students holistic growth andbuilding positive relationships beyond the classroom.

. Be an advocate of the school and its decisionsduring interactions with students, staff, and the community.

. Lead in nurturing a Lasallian Catholic ethosby building upon the legacy and tradition of the school firmly anchored inFaith, Service, Community, Excellence and Respect.

. Maintain good working relationships withcolleagues and students.

. Be a role model within the school in terms ofprofessional expertise and conduct and lead by example.

. Treat others fairly and with respect in orderto create and maintain a positive school culture.

. Build a collaborative learning culture withinthe school and manage innovation and change.

. Take on specific tasks related to theday-to-day administration and organisation of the school as requested by thePrincipal or other senior leaders.

Qualifications and Skills

. Bachelor's degree in Education or relatedfield Master's degree preferred.

. Bachelordegree in the specific area of teaching

Desirable

. Experience in curriculum leadership within aninternational or independent school setting.

. Experience in teaching IGCSE Music or Drama,IBDP Music or Theatre
