Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, plating, and quality control
- Develop and update menus featuring authentic Chinese cuisine (Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, etc., depending on your restaurant)
- Ensure food is prepared consistently and meets restaurant standards
- Train, supervise, and schedule kitchen staff
- Manage inventory, place orders for ingredients, and monitor stock levels
- Control food costs, minimize wastage, and ensure efficient use of resources
- Maintain strict hygiene, food safety, and cleanliness standards
- Collaborate with management on seasonal menus, promotions, and special events
- Ensure smooth kitchen operations during peak hours
- Handle kitchen equipment maintenance and report issues when needed
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Chef in a Chinese restaurant
- Strong knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques, flavors, and ingredients
- Ability to lead and motivate a kitchen team
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills
- Strong understanding of food cost control and kitchen management
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
- Creativity in menu development and presentation
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication and leadership skills
