Job Description

Job Summary

The Assistant Chef supports the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and ensuring high-quality standards. The role is vital in maintaining smooth kitchen functions and compliance with Singapore food hygiene and workplace safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in food preparation, cooking, garnishing, and plating dishes.
  • Follow recipes, portion control, and presentation guidelines set by the Head Chef.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness in compliance with NEA/SFA food hygiene standards.
  • Assist in stock management, storage, and kitchen inventory checks.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any faults.
  • Train and guide junior staff and kitchen assistants.
  • Step in to support or cover for the Head Chef when required.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and grooming.
  • Ensure safety and hygiene compliance under Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) standards.

Requirements

  • Certificate in Culinary Arts or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in a professional kitchen.
  • Knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques and ingredients.
  • Valid WSQ Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (mandatory in Singapore).
  • Strong teamwork and time management skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude, willing to learn and adapt.
