Head Barista

Elephant Grounds is an award-winning Hong Kong-born lifestyle brand renowned for its specialty coffee, Japanese influenced cuisine, and caf culture. Founded in 2013 by Gerald Li and Kevin Poon, the brand began as a coffee kiosk within a retail shop and has since grown into a fully integrated coffee roastery, artisanal bakery, and restaurant concept with operations in Hong Kong, Manila, Jakarta Q1 2026, and now Singapore.

The Head Barista at Elephant Grounds is a leadership role responsible for overseeing coffee operations, ensuring exceptional quality for coffee and other signature beverages, and maintaining high standards of service. This position requires a deep passion for coffee, strong leadership skills, and the ability to train and inspire the barista team. The Head Barista will work closely with Elephant Grounds to develop localized coffee programs, maintain equipment, and uphold the brand's reputation for excellence.

Job Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the coffee bar, ensuring efficient workflow and high standards of quality.
• Train, mentor, and motivate baristas to enhance their skills and promote a positive work environment.
• Maintain and develop where necessary beverage recipes, ensuring consistency and quality in all drinks.
• Monitor inventory and manage ordering of coffee beans, milk, and other supplies.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar and equipment.
• Engage with customers to provide recommendations and ensure a memorable experience.
• Stay informed about coffee trends, techniques, and innovations in barista skills.
• Assist in marketing efforts, including social media promotions and community events.

Job Requirement

• Diploma or equivalent Barista certification or relevant coursework (preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a barista, with at least 2 years in supervisory or lead role
• Strong knowledge of coffee preparation, espresso machines, and brewing methods.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Specialty coffee certifications (e.g., SCA, Barista Guild) are a plus.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
• Proficient in latte art and beverage presentation.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to lead and inspire a team.
• Knowledge of coffee sourcing and flavor profiles is a must.
• Ability to work flexible hours/shift, including weekends and public holidays.
