The Head of Applications is a role responsible for the strategy, delivery, operations, and continuous improvement of enterprise applications supporting corporate business functions.
This role leads a team of software engineers responsible for the planning, design, implementation, maintenance, support, and enhancement of corporate systems across highly secure and complex IT environments.
Reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Head of Applications provides strategic leadership for enterprise application platforms, drives digital transformation initiatives, ensures operational excellence, and advises on application architecture, integration, and technology direction.

In This Role, You Will
Enterprise Application Strategy and Leadership
- Develop and execute the enterprise applications strategy aligned with the organisation's digital transformation roadmap.
- Translate organisational digital capabilities and business objectives into actionable application initiatives and work plans.
- Lead, coach and develop a multidisciplinary applications team to deliver work outcomes.
- Provide strategic advice on enterprise application technologies, architecture and integration approaches.
Enterprise Systems Delivery
- Lead the implementation of enterprise application programmes from inception through deployment and operational transition.
- Oversee the design, development, configuration, testing and deployment of enterprise systems.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, resilient and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
- Drive continuous improvement of work processes through effective use of technology and automation.
Application Operations and Service Management
- Accountable for the reliability, availability and performance of enterprise applications.
- Lead incident management and resolution activities for critical application outages.
- Ensure service levels, system availability and operational KPIs are achieved.
- Establish and continuously improve application support processes and operational governance.
- Manage the lifecycle of enterprise applications from implementation through retirement.
Architecture and Integration Governance
- Provide leadership on enterprise application architecture and integration.
- Ensure enterprise systems operate effectively across complex technology environments.
- Work closely with infrastructure, cybersecurity, data and business teams to ensure secure and efficient application services.

Job Requirements
- Degree/Master in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems or a related discipline. Postgraduate qualifications or professional certifications are advantageous.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex.
- Technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-driven and proactive in keeping up with new technologies.
- At least 12-15 years of IT experience, with significant experience in enterprise applications management.
- At least 5 years in a leadership role managing applications or enterprise systems teams.
- Proven experience leading large-scale enterprise application implementations and transformation programmes.
- Experience overseeing vendors, system integrators and outsourced service providers.
- Experience in enterprise application management in complex environments, ERP and bespoke systems, application architecture and integration, IT operational support, cybersecurity and governance principles.
