Hardware Architecture Lead Engineer

Role Overview

Lead hardware architecture and technical strategy for next-generation retail technology products. Own architecture decisions from concept through product lifecycle, working closely with global engineering, product, procurement, test, support, and supplier teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Own hardware architecture across I/O devices, printers, cameras, mobile devices, memory/SSD, and emerging technologies.
• Define product architecture, technical requirements, specifications, and design decisions.
• Lead technical trade-offs across performance, reliability, cost, manufacturability, serviceability, and lifecycle risks.
• Drive component qualification, supplier engagement, commodity strategy, and technology roadmap decisions.
• Partner with cross-functional and global teams to resolve complex technical and product issues.
• Support RCA, quality improvement, field issue resolution, and design optimization.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and translate them into practical product architecture solutions.
• Influence architecture standards, design reuse, platform consistency, and technical best practices.
• Contribute to innovation projects and intellectual property development.

Ideal Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in hardware engineering, architecture, product development, platform engineering, or NPI.
• Proven experience leading hardware architecture decisions for complex products or technology domains.
• Strong knowledge of hardware design, component qualification, product lifecycle, and supplier management.
• Experience with technical specifications, requirements, risk assessments, and architecture documentation.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with engineering, procurement, product, test, support, and suppliers.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, global environment.
