The Growth and Platform Management Specialist is a dynamic, hybrid role responsible for both the strategic design and daily execution of our digital audience growth initiatives. Reporting to the Editor/Associate Editor, you will serve as a key driver in transforming casual readers into a highly engaged, loyal community. You will combine editorial judgment with data-driven insights to manage platform curation, optimize content distribution, and implement loyalty-building tactics across newsletters and push notifications.
Key Responsibilities
1. Daily Digital Operations & Curation
- Platform Management: Execute daily digital strategy by managing homepage curation (story queues and tickers) and performing quality control for all digital content.
- Content Distribution: Schedule and deploy targeted push notifications and manage the production of daily newsletters to drive direct traffic.
- On-Platform Engagement: Implement recirculation strategies, such as related article modules and personalized recommendations, to increase time-spent-on-site.
2. Content Strategy & Optimization
- Strategic Translation: Convert audience insights and data reports into actionable strategies for new content formats and distribution channels.
- Discoverability: Execute SEO best practices, keyword management, and explore emerging channels like Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) to convert search audiences into loyal users.
- Loyalty Programs: Work with cross-functional teams to support initiatives like Subscription team, ZB Club or ZB Rewards through optimized digital touchpoints.
3. Innovation & Product Collaboration
- Product Liaison: Identify and champion new product features that address audience pain points, working with the Product Manager to test new functionalities.
- Emerging Tech: Pilot and integrate new AI tools into daily workflows to enhance the user experience and internal efficiency.
- Knowledge Sharing: Monitor industry trends and best practices to advise the newsroom on high-engagement content packaging.
Requirements & Expertise
- Experience: 3-5 years in a digital content, audience development, or newsroom producer role within a media organization.
- Editorial Acumen: Exceptional editorial judgment, copywriting skills, and a strong eye for visual curation
- Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of CMS, publishing tools, and digital content strategy including SEO and loyalty programs.
- Analytical Mindset: Ability to interpret data dashboards to inform both daily content decisions and long-term engagement tactics.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and collaborate across editorial and technical teams.
