Group Financial Controller (Shipping/Maritime)

Our client is a leading European ship owner with their group HQ based out of Singapore.

The Financial Controller (Group & Corporate) provides strategic oversight of group financial governance, statutory and tax compliance, and management reporting across the Group. The role leads the production and review of consolidated financial statements, drives strong internal controls and policy governance, and partners internal stakeholders and external auditors/advisers to ensure high-quality, timely and compliant reporting.

Job Description

• Review consolidated financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards and group policies; ensure accuracy, completeness and appropriate disclosures.

• Serve as the technical accounting lead for non-routine transactions, including:

o M&A / business combinations, disposals, group reorganisations and purchase price allocation support o Derivatives, hedging strategies and hedge accounting documentation / effectiveness assessment

• Oversee statutory reporting, audit coordination and tax compliance matters across multiple jurisdictions. This includes leading discussions with external auditors and advisers on technical positions

• Lead, guide and develop team competency across group and segment levels.

• Lead finance transformation initiatives including automation and ERP enhancements

• Evaluate and continually improve financial processes for efficiency and accuracy; standardise ways of working across jurisdictions and segments

• Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications / Experiences

• Degree in accountancy (or equivalent) and professional qualification of a Chartered Accountant

• 12+ years of combined experience in financial control, audit, and compliance role

• Strong understanding of maritime industry and applicable accounting standards

• Strong preference for prior experience in Oracle or similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across-functional internal and external parties

• Strong IFRS technical knowledge and ability to write accounting positions

• Experience in creating or improving a finance function and controls

• Proven people leadership experience in managing/supervising an accounting team
