Group Accountant (Fixed Assets | Maritime Industry)
Our client is a well-established maritime business, and they are looking to hire an Accountant to manage the accounting for vessel-owning entities, with a strong focus on fixed assets, month-end reporting and the full asset lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full set of accounts for vessel-owning entities, including GL, AP, AR and bank reconciliations
- Perform vessel accounting across the full asset lifecycle, including acquisitions, disposals and chartering-related transactions
- Manage fixed asset accounting, including capitalisation, depreciation, transfers, disposals and maintenance of the fixed asset register
- Support IFRS 16 lease accounting, vessel financing and related accounting entries
- Prepare month-end journals, reconciliations, management reports, vessel P&Ls and balance sheet schedules
- Support budgeting, cash flow forecasting and variance analysis
- Liaise with auditors and ensure compliance with IFRS and statutory reporting requirements
- Partner with Fleet, Treasury and commercial teams to support operational and financial reporting
Key Requirements
- Degree in Accountancy, Finance or a related discipline
- 5+ years of accounting experience within shipping, maritime or another asset-intensive industry
- Experience preparing full sets of accounts and month-end close
- Strong experience in fixed asset accounting, including capitalisation, depreciation and asset lifecycle accounting
- Exposure to vessel accounting, management reporting and audit
- Working knowledge of IFRS; exposure to IFRS 16 is advantageous
- Experience with ERP systems is preferred
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
