About the role
We are looking for a creative and driven Graphic Designer to join CNA's News Graphics team in Singapore. You will play a key role in shaping how CNA's journalism is experienced on social media by producing compelling visuals that serve as a powerful second touchpoint for our stories, help explain complex concepts and drive audience engagement.
You will create social graphics, infographics and bespoke illustrations, and develop creative visuals for CNA's flagship pillars and key stories. This role requires the ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom environment, along with a strong passion for translating news, data and statistics into clear, accurate and impactful visual storytelling.
Key Responsibilities
- Design visually compelling social media graphics for CNA's platforms (including Facebook, Instagram and emerging platforms), aligned with CNA's brand identity
- Create clear and engaging infographics that help explain complex, data-driven and statistics-heavy stories to enhance audience understanding
- Develop bespoke illustrations and creative visuals for CNA's flagship stories to strengthen digital storytelling
- Produce and edit high-quality animations, including GIFs and video animations
- Collaborate closely with journalists, reporters and editors to translate editorial content into accurate and effective visuals
- Work efficiently under tight deadlines, including during breaking news situations
- Partner with cross-functional teams across the newsroom to ensure cohesive and consistent storytelling
- Uphold high standards of accuracy, consistency and visual quality across all outputs
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of graphics workflows and processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Arts, Visual Communication or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience; 3-5 years preferred
- Strong portfolio demonstrating social media design and visual storytelling skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects), with working knowledge of tools such as Figma and Canva
- Strong foundations in typography, colour theory, layout, composition and storyboarding
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and meeting tight deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams across the newsroom
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Familiarity with social media design trends
- Familiarity with the news industry and a strong interest in current affairs
- Proficiency in data visualisation platforms (e.g. Datawrapper, Flourish) and/or web design is a plus
