The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Global Humanitarian & Rescue Lead to drive the planning and execution of international humanitarian assistance, emergency response and rescue initiatives.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience in humanitarian operations, disaster response or emergency management, together with an established international network across the humanitarian and rescue ecosystem.
You will build and strengthen partnerships with international humanitarian organisations, local NGOs, medical and rescue organisations, government bodies and other key stakeholders, while coordinating resources across different countries to enable effective and timely responses.
Beyond operational delivery, this is a senior role with the opportunity to contribute to strategic decisions around our global humanitarian initiatives, resource allocation and response priorities, as well as progressively build and lead an international rescue team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, coordination and execution of international humanitarian assistance, emergency response and rescue initiatives.
- Build and continuously expand a strong global humanitarian and rescue network, developing long-term relationships with international NGOs, Red Cross and Red Crescent organisations, medical organisations, local rescue organisations, government agencies and other strategic partners.
- Assess emerging humanitarian crises, natural disasters and major incidents, develop appropriate response plans and mobilise internal and external resources.
- Coordinate resources across countries and regions, including local partners, medical support, rescue resources, supplies, logistics and other critical capabilities.
- Develop and continuously improve emergency response frameworks, operating procedures and partnership models to strengthen global response capabilities.
- Participate in management discussions and decision-making regarding humanitarian strategy, priority markets, partner selection, resource allocation and major response initiatives.
- Manage relationships with senior external stakeholders and represent the organisation in strategic partnerships, discussions and relevant humanitarian engagements.
- Establish mechanisms to evaluate and review humanitarian initiatives, considering response time, resources deployed, reach, measurable impact and long-term value.
- Build and lead an international rescue team as the function grows, developing team capabilities and strengthening cross-border collaboration.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in humanitarian assistance, international rescue, disaster response, emergency response or a related field, ideally with regional or international responsibilities.
- Experience with organisations such as the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), UN agencies, international NGOs, humanitarian organisations, disaster-response organisations or similar institutions is highly preferred.
- An established international humanitarian and rescue network, with the ability to connect with NGOs, rescue organisations, medical resources, government agencies and other critical partners across multiple countries.
- Practical experience or established networks outside Asia — including Africa, Latin America and/or the Middle East — would be highly advantageous.
- Strong leadership and programme management capabilities, ideally with experience leading international initiatives, cross-cultural teams or complex emergency-response programmes.
- Excellent judgement, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to operate effectively in high-pressure and time-sensitive situations.
- Professional fluency in English and Chinese are high preferred!
