RESPONSIBILITIES
Role Overview
The Global HR Director is the senior people leader for BW LPG, responsible for shaping and executing the company's people and culture agenda in direct support of business strategy, performance, and long-term value creation.
Reporting to the CEO, the role partners closely with senior leaders to ensure BW LPG has the organisational capability, leadership depth, culture, and people systems required to operate effectively as a global, listed company.
The role combines strategic leadership, sound judgement, and strong execution, with accountability for both enterprise level people strategy and the effective running of a lean, high-quality HR function. The role also provides executive oversight of the company's communications agenda, ensuring strong alignment between business strategy, people priorities, and corporate messaging.
Key Accountabilities
1. Business Partnership & Leadership
- Partner with the CEO and senior leadership to address current and future people, leadership, and capability needs aligned with BW LPG's business strategy.
- Build strong personal connection and credibility across the organisation through visible, hands-on engagement, spending time with leaders and employees across functions and geographies.
- Act as a trusted advisor and constructive challenger on organisation design, leadership effectiveness, culture, performance, and workforce decisions.
- Contribute to broader strategic and operational discussions, demonstrating strong business acumen and sound judgement beyond the people agenda.
2. People Strategy & Culture
- Define and execute BW LPG's people and culture strategy, aligned with company strategy, values, and longterm organisational needs.
- Act as steward of the company's culture and values, ensuring they are embedded in leadership behaviours and people practices.
- Drive organisational development and a learning culture that strengthens collaboration, engagement, performance, and resilience.
3. Talent, Performance & Leadership
- Own the core people lifecycle, including workforce planning, talent acquisition, leadership development, performance, engagement, and reward.
- Ensure talent and performance processes are pragmatic and well-governed, aligned with business priorities.
- Oversee leadership succession and talent risk for senior and critical roles.
4. Change, Growth & Integration
- Support business transformation, growth, and change initiatives, providing clear judgement on organisational, cultural, and people implications.
- Participate in due diligence, joint ventures, and integration activities, leading effective change management to ensure sustainable outcomes.
5. Governance, Reward & Compliance
- Support the Board Remuneration Committee on executive remuneration, incentives, and people governance matters.
- Oversee the long-term incentive plan (LTIP) and ensure alignment with Board and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure robust people governance and controls, including SOX compliance.
6. Communications & Reputation
- Provide executive oversight of the company's communications function, with the Head of Communications reporting into the role.
- Ensure alignment between internal communications, culture, people agenda, and business strategy, and coherence between internal and external messaging.
- Work closely with Investor Relations and other senior stakeholders on external communications, and provide leadership on corporate social responsibility (CSR) priorities to support BW LPG's reputation and stakeholder engagement.
7. HR Operations & Systems
- Oversee end-to-end HR operations, ensuring accurate, compliant, and efficient delivery across the employee lifecycle.
- Drive simplification and automation of HR processes to improve efficiency and employee experience.
- Act as business owner for HR systems and people data, ensuring data integrity and meaningful analytics.
8. External & Group Engagement
- Represent BW LPG within the BW Group HR community of practice contributing insights and leveraging Group capabilities and expertise.
- Maintain awareness of external people and regulatory trends relevant to BW LPG.
QUALIFICATIONS- Senior HR leadership experience in complex, international organisations maritime, industrial, or asset-heavy environments are advantageous.
- Proven track record partnering with CEOs and senior leadership teams in commercially driven settings.
- Strong understanding of Singapore employment law and HR practices.
- Experience leading strategic people agendas and lean, effective HR operations.
- Experience operating in organisations with strong governance, regulatory, and compliance requirements (preferably listed company environment)
