Job Summary

The Global Enterprise Observability Lead is responsible for defining, building, and scaling GlobalFoundries enterprise observability capability across IT, OT, cloud, and manufacturing environments. This role sets the strategic direction for observability under Project Horizon, ensuring alignment to business outcomes such as system reliability, reduced MTTR, and operational efficiency.

Operating at an enterprise level, this role drives architecture, governance, and adoption while leading global teams and influencing senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and own the enterprise observability strategy, roadmap, and operating model aligned to business priorities

  • Establish governance frameworks, standards, and best practices to ensure consistency and scalability

  • Own end-to-end observability architecture and platform ecosystem, including APM, infrastructure monitoring, log analytics, and tracing

  • Lead enterprise telemetry strategy across logs, metrics, traces, and events to enable full-stack visibility

  • Drive advanced analytics capabilities including AIOps, predictive insights, and automated incident response

  • Deliver persona-based dashboards to enable operational, engineering, and executive visibility

  • Improve service reliability through reduction in MTTR, alert noise, and incident volumes

  • Lead observability delivery for Project Horizon, including design, implementation, and global rollout

Leadership & Team Management

  • Build and lead a global observability organization across regions, driving scale and capability maturity

  • Establish clear operating models, roles, and RACI across IT, OT, and business stakeholders

  • Create and govern a Global Observability Center of Excellence (CoE) and community of practice

  • Define talent strategy including hiring, capability development, and career pathways

  • Drive a culture shift towards proactive, predictive, and data-driven operations

  • Align and influence stakeholders across IT, OT, security, and business functions

  • Lead cross-functional integration and break down organizational silos

  • Own performance management frameworks aligned to measurable business outcomes

  • Drive enterprise change management toward unified observability adoption

  • Manage strategic vendors, partners, and system integrators

Skills & Experience

  • Deep expertise in observability domains including APM, monitoring, log analytics, and distributed tracing

  • Strong experience with leading observability platforms (e.g., Dynatrace, Splunk, LogicMonitor)

  • Solid understanding of cloud-native architectures, microservices, and distributed systems

  • Proven leadership experience building and leading global, cross-functional teams

  • Expertise in telemetry engineering, data pipelines, and large-scale data platforms

  • Strong knowledge of SRE practices, including SLIs/SLOs, incident management, and automation

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

  • 10+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform engineering, or observability roles

  • 5+ years in leadership, program delivery, or enterprise transformation roles

Success Metrics

  • Measurable reduction in MTTR and overall incident volume

  • Improved system availability, resilience, and service reliability

  • Increased observability coverage across enterprise services and platforms

  • Reduction in alert fatigue and false positives through intelligent monitoring
