Role Overview

The Global Controlling - Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting for HSO Division's Australia entity. This role ensures the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of all accounting activities in accordance with HOYA Group policies, IFRS, local GAAP requirements, and J-SOX. The position will also support future scalability, e.g. expansion of scope to support other HSO entities.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Accounting Operations

  • Manage the daily accounting activities for the HSO Australia entity.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing in accordance with IFRS and relevant local GAAP.
  • Be responsbile for the general ledger integrity, account reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions.
  • Be responsbile for the journal entries, schedules, and supporting documentation.

2. Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Ensure financial statements and reporting submissions meet HOYA Group policies, IFRS, and local statutory accounting requirements.
  • Manage audit processes (internal, external, tax).
  • Ensure full compliance with J-SOX controls and support continuous assessment and enhancement of internal controls.
  • Maintain proper documentation and adherence to the global finance internal control and governance framework.

3. Process Improvement & Standardisation

  • Support global finance transformation initiatives, process standardisation, and shared services readiness.

4. Business Partnership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with FP&A and Commercial teams to resolve accounting matters and support business needs.
  • Provide timely insights, accounting and operational support to stakeholders.
  • Support Head of Accounting for policy updates, system/process enhancement initiatives or any other projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
  • Professional accounting qualification (CPA, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent) required.
  • Minimum 610 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally experience in a multinational environment managing multiple legal entities. Prior accounting experience for Australia entities, Shared Service Centre is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, local GAAPs (US, Singapore, Australia), and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Hands-on experience managing audits, month-end close, and financial reporting.
  • Proven experience with SAP system (preferably SAP S/4HANA) is a must. Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., D365) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
