Job Description

Role Purpose

The Global Category Manager – Electrical is responsible for developing, refining, and executing the global electrical category strategy across large-scale construction projects and manufacturing operations. A key focus of the role is the negotiation and implementation of global Master Framework Agreements with strategic suppliers to drive long-term value, cost efficiency, supply reliability, and category maturity. The position works closely with engineering, commercial, and operational teams across multiple business units and regions.

The ideal candidate brings extensive expertise in High Voltage (HV), Medium Voltage (MV), and Low Voltage (LV) electrical procurement within multinational EPC, industrial, or infrastructure environments, along with strong commercial acumen and proven success in managing complex supplier relationships on a global scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, refine, and execute global electrical category strategies aligned with business objectives, supporting long-term value creation and category growth.
  • Negotiate and manage global Master Framework Agreements with key strategic suppliers to achieve commercial benefits, improve supply chain resilience, and support operational requirements.
  • Act as the global category lead for electrical procurement, managing strategic supplier relationships to enhance project performance, innovation, quality, and schedule adherence.
  • Collaborate with engineering, commercial, construction, operations, and finance teams to ensure category strategies meet technical specifications and project requirements.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate supply chain risks while optimizing total cost of ownership through market intelligence and data-driven decision-making.
  • Monitor global market trends, emerging technologies, and supply chain developments related to electrical equipment and systems to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Utilize procurement platforms and analytics tools to improve spend visibility, track supplier performance, and support strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Partner with business units and project teams to align procurement activities with project goals, ensuring value delivery and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support procurement objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or category management with a focus on electrical equipment and systems (HV, MV, LV).
  • Experience within multinational EPC, industrial, manufacturing, construction, infrastructure, or related sectors is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of negotiating and managing global framework agreements with strategic suppliers.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, equipment, industry standards, specifications, and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing category strategies across complex, multinational organizations.
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience leveraging procurement technologies and analytics to drive supplier performance and strategic decision-making.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certifications such as CIPS, CPM, CPSM, or equivalent are preferred.
  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal; additional language capabilities are advantageous.

Technical Competencies

  • Comprehensive knowledge of HV, MV, and LV electrical equipment and systems.
  • Strong understanding of global sourcing strategies, supplier relationship management, and category management principles.
  • Ability to conduct commercial analysis, supplier evaluations, cost modeling, and risk assessments.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for reporting, analysis, and executive presentations.
  • Experience with ERP and procurement platforms such as SAP, SAP Ariba, and supplier performance management systems.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving capabilities within complex global supply chain environments.
