PennEngineering is seeking a motivated, excited, individual to be a part of PennEngineering Global Marketing team as the Global Business Development Manager - Robotics.

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Global Business Development Manager to drive strategic growth and execution in the Humanoid Robotics markets as well as support of the high-growth Battery & Energy Storage (BESS). This role is responsible for both strategy development (20%) and execution coordination (80%), ensuring our internal teams, customers, and partners work in alignment to achieve market success. With direct responsibility for leading cross-functional teams to enable growth, this role demands expertise in strategy development, product management, internal coordination, and direct customer engagement.

  • Develop pipeline of growth opportunities by application, account, region + coordinate with sales and engineering coverage

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Market Positioning: Owns the strategic direction and positioning of the Robotics/BESS markets, ensuring alignment with business objectives and KPIs. Understands the direction of the market and emerging market needs and then determines how Penn's product & services portfolio can support this growth.
  • Product Strategy & Roadmaps: Works closely with New Product Development (NPD) teams to define product roadmaps that align with market needs. Ensures we have a global view of customer opportunities and helps identify which products are regional vs global.
  • Pricing Strategy: Collaborates with the pricing team to develop competitive pricing models and strategies, both within a region and across our global portfolio.
  • Channel Strategy: Collaborates with the regions, commercial technology, and IT teams to set global channel strategy, including distribution and eCommerce.
  • Customer Platform Mapping & Pipeline Management: Develops and manages opportunities, customer interactions, and competitive positions across regions, in coordination with the sales team.
  • Competitive & Market Intelligence: Conducts market research and competitive analysis to identify growth opportunities and threats.
  • Marketing & Communications (MarCom) Strategy: Develops and aligns MarCom strategies in collaboration with the marketing team to enhance brand presence and engagement, including aligning with channel partners on marketing content.

Requirements

  • Minimum (7) years of progressive experience in global market strategy, business development, product management, or segment growth roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business, or related technical field required; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual Mandarin preferred
  • Direct experience in Robotics is required; Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), EV infrastructure, power electronics, automation, or advanced manufacturing ecosystems is helpful.
  • Experience working with large OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and system integrators.
  • Demonstrated success scaling a business segment from early growth to structured global expansion.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute market strategies that drive revenue growth and competitive advantage.
  • Strong commercial acumen with financial literacy and understanding of global supply chains and industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to win, grow, and manage strategic accounts in emerging or high-growth markets.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience leveraging market intelligence and competitive positioning insights to inform strategy.
  • Executive presence with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams (sales, marketing, product, engineering).
  • Technically credible — comfortable engaging engineering teams and customers on application requirements.
  • Decisive and data-driven, with the ability to operate effectively in ambiguity.
  • Results-oriented with strong execution discipline and the ability to balance long-term strategy with short-term revenue objectives.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
