Job Summary
The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, operational efficiency, and compliance with accounting standards and company policies. This pivotal role drives process improvements, supports business growth, strengthens internal controls, and ensures the timely and efficient execution of General Ledger operational activities.
Key Responsibilities
Fixed Assets Management
- Manage the timely and accurate validation of vendor purchase orders and invoices for capital expenditures (CAPEX), ensuring accurate coding and compliance with tax, accounting, reporting requirements, and internal policies
- Manage the maintenance and reconciliation of the Fixed Assets Register, ensuring timely capitalization and proper accounting treatment
Lease Reporting
- Manage lease accounting in SAP RE-FX and ensure IFRS 16 compliance
Finance Reporting & Closing Activities
- Ensure timely and accurate closing of General Ledgers
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation and submission of financial and management reporting, in accordance with Group guidelines
Treasury and Corporate Matters
- Manage monthly cash forecasts banking facilities, and local treasury-related matters
- Ensure compliance with corporate governance standards, regulatory requirements, and corporate filing obligations
Taxes and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with GST reporting and regulatory requirement
Others
- Actively participate and contribute to a diverse range of group, regional, and local initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve strategic objectives.
- Provide essential support for critical group, regional, and local projects, with a particular emphasis on identifying opportunities for and implementing solutions related to automation and process optimization
- Provide support and knowledge sharing to SEAO markets as required
- Managing banker guarantees application process
- Liaise with external auditors on audit matters when necessary
- Perform other assigned ad-hoc tasks, including but not limited to survey requests from the department of statistics
- Ensure effective stakeholder management by proactively identifying, engaging, and building strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. This includes maintaining clear, concise, and timely communication, managing expectations, and facilitating alignment to drive successful project outcomes and foster collaborative working environments
Qualifications And Experience
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent professional experience qualification (CPA/CA)
- 4-5 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally within an MNC or Big 4 audit firm
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, GST, and internal control frameworks
- Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to automate templates and enhance reporting/process efficiency
- Proficiency in SAP or equivalent ERP systems
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of meeting tight deadlines in a high-volume environment
- Demonstrates a strong sense of responsibility and a can-do attitude
