As a Genetic Counsellor, you will be responsible for the following duties:
Assess hereditary cancer risks and recommend appropriate genetic testing options.
Provide clear, empathetic, and personalized genetic counselling to patients and families.
Explain genetic conditions, testing implications, and risk information in patient-friendly language.
Conduct pre-test and post-test counselling, including results disclosure and emotional support.
Obtain comprehensive family and medical histories through patient interviews.
Recommend, order, and coordinate genetic tests after obtaining informed consent.
Liaise with genetic laboratories, arrange sample dispatch, and follow up on test results.
Prepare detailed consultation reports for referring physicians.
Translate complex genetic findings into clear communication for patients and healthcare providers.
Provide educational resources to patients and families on managing genetic conditions.
Maintain and manage the Genetic Database.
Develop patient education brochures and materials.
Participate in conferences and professional organizations to stay updated in genetics and genomics.
Organize genetic symposiums when needed.
Contribute to Genetics projects and ensure timelines are met.
Identify opportunities for workflow automation or process improvement.
Requirements:
Relevant Degree or Masters in Genetic Counselling.
At least 2 year of work experiences in clinical genetic counselling.
