My Client is seeking a visionary and technicallygrounded General Manager to lead their Singapore operations. This is a foundational role that combines strategic business leadership with technical project management. You will be responsible for the zero-to-one phase of our Singapore hub: setting up a state-of-the-art laboratory, establishing membrane manufacturing lines, and driving international sales growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Direct the overall business strategy for Singapore and the broader APAC region.
- Manage the P&L, budgeting, and financial forecasting for the Singapore entity.
- Recruit, lead, and mentor a multidisciplinary team across engineering, sales, and administration.
2. Lab & Manufacturing Setup(Technical Lead)
- Facility Setup: Oversee the design, procurement, and commissioning of a new membrane testing laboratory and a manufacturing facility.
- Quality Management: Implement ISO standards and ensure all manufactured membrane elements meet international drinking water standards (e.g., SAJ standards).
- R&D Oversight: Drive innovation in RO/NF/UF technologies to maintain a competitive edge in the water recycling and desalination markets.
3. Sales & Business Development
- Project Acquisition: Identify and secure large-scale water treatment projects (e.g., dual-train RO systems, recycling plants).
- Brand Growth: Oversee the marketing strategy for the brand, specifically targeting the China and SE Asia markets.
- Strategic Partnerships: Build relationships with industrial developers, government bodies, and international distributors.
4. Supply Chain & Logistics
- Optimize the procurement of pressure vessels, membrane elements, and auxiliary equipment.
- Manage international shipping logistics and supply chain resilience for large-scale equipment delivery.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science, or Business Administration.
- Industry Expertise: Minimum 10-15 years of experience in the water treatment or membrane technology industry.
- Facility Management: Proven track record of setting up industrial laboratories or membrane manufacturing plants from the ground up.
- Sales Excellence: Demonstrated success in technical sales, specifically managing high-value quotations and tenders for RO/UF systems.
- Regional Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Singapore and Malaysia water industry landscapes experience with the regional markets is a significant advantage.
- Soft Skills: Entrepreneurial mindset, high resilience, and the ability to lead a diverse team in a fast-paced start-up environment.
