Lead and manage the Legal & Compliance function for group companies in ASEAN & SouthwestAsia, supervising and mentoring Legal and Compliance Managers and other team members
Set regional legal and compliance strategy in alignment with HQ's global policies develop and implement annual compliance plans
Oversee review of major commercial contracts (sales & purchase of the goods, distribution, agency, non-disclosure, guarantee & indemnity, etc.) and approve high-risk or high-value transactions in ASEAN & Southwest Asia
Provide strategic guidance for dispute management, including complex claims, negotiations with counterparties, and coordination with external counsel and litigation teams, etc. in ASEAN & SouthwestAsia
Supervise handling of bad debts and insolvency-related matters, including settlement strategies, statutory demands, and applications for insolvency against debtors, etc. in ASEAN & Southwest Asia
Approve and oversee regional internal legal &compliance training programs (commercial law, competition/antitrust, anti-bribery, trade compliance, etc.) and act as lead lecturer for key sessions in ASEAN & Southwest Asia
Chair or co-chair Compliance Committee meetings, information exchange meetings ensure timely escalation and resolution of significant compliance issues in ASEAN & Southwest Asia
Direct and monitor trade compliance operations (export controls, sanctions, customs, FTA/EPA utilization, etc.) for our group companies in ASEAN& Southwest Asia
Oversee investigation and remediation of compliance incidents in ASEAN & Southwest Asia, including coordination with HQ, business leaders, and relevant authorities where necessary
Take overall responsibility for legal and compliance due diligence on investments, M&A projects, and new business initiatives in ASEAN & Southwest Asia
Oversee the whistleblowing framework in ASEAN& Southwest Asia, ensuring proper investigation, protection of whistleblowers, and reporting to HQ
Report regularly to HQ on key legal and compliance risks, major cases, and regional trends, and propose necessary policy or process improvements in ASEAN & Southwest Asia
Supervise and coordinate responses to customs/administrative inspections and regulatory inquires in ASEAN &Southwest Asia, ensuring consistent and legally sound practices across the region
Job requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Laws postgraduate qualification (LL.M. or equivalent) preferred
Business level Japanese Language skills, preferably JLPT N1 (or N2 with strong business experience), for close communication and reporting to HQ in Japan
Minimum 20years of experience in the legal/compliancefield, including several years in aleadership role at a publicly listed company or multinational company
Extensive knowledgeand hands-on experience in corporate compliance (incl.anti-bribery/anti-corruption, competitionlaw, data protection, etc.)
Proven expertise in trade compliance such as export control, trade sanctions, customs control, FTA/EPA, and related regulations in ASEAN & Southwest Asia
Demonstrated experience managing and developing legal/compliance teams across multiple countries
Strong track record in handling complex commercial disputes, regulatory investigations, and cross-border projects
Excellent stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to influence senior management and align regional practices with HQ's global policies
