• Job Title: General Manager (Eyewear Retail)

• Location: Tanjong Pagar (3-minute walk from MRT)

• Salary: SGD 10,000 - SGD 13,000 per month

Company Overview

Our client is an expanding organization managing operations in Singapore, encompassing both wholesale and retail entities in the eyewear sector. We are currently seeking a highly experienced and strategic General Manager to take full ownership of the local business, drive market expansion, and ensure sustainable growth.

Job Responsibilities

• Own full financial performance of the business, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow management, ensuring sustainable profitability and liquidity.

• Lead multi-store retail operations (10+ stores) with a focus on operational excellence.

• Drive sales growth, profitability improvement, and strict cost control across the organization.

• Develop and manage annual budget and forecasting to align with long-term strategic goals.

• Manage finance operations including accounting, closing, and compliance, leveraging external partners or internal resources as appropriate.

• Execute merchandising (MD) and marketing strategies in alignment with direction from Japan HQ, while proactively adapting them to local market needs to maximize market penetration.

• Lead store expansion strategy including site selection and complex lease negotiations.

• Manage relationships with developers/landlords and external partners at an executive level.

• Lead and manage entire local team (stores and office), cultivating a high-performing culture.

• Oversee hiring, evaluation, and development of staff.

• Communicate effectively with Japan HQ, acting as the primary strategic bridge between the local market and global leadership.

• Execute local strategy aligned with HQ direction.

Requirements

• Industry Experience: Proven track record in the Optical / Eyewear retail industry is strictly required.

• Leadership Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of extensive experience at a General Manager, Country Head, or equivalent executive level.

• Demonstrated success in managing 10+ retail locations with comprehensive financial oversight (P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow management).

• Strong strategic acumen in budgeting, cost control, merchandising (MD), and marketing strategy development.

• Extensive experience in high-level lease negotiations and landlord management.

• Ability to adapt to Japanese corporate culture and processes seamlessly.

• Language Requirement: Japanese or Chinese language proficiency is mandatory to communicate closely with directors at Japan HQ.
