Job Description

he General Manager is responsible for the overall management, performance, and growth of Bolt Car Leasing. The role oversees the day-to-day operations of the car leasing business while driving sales, fleet utilisation, customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and profitability.

The General Manager works closely with the management team and various departments to ensure the company maintains a competitive fleet, delivers a high standard of service, manages costs effectively, and identifies opportunities for sustainable business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Business Management & Strategy

  • Lead the overall day-to-day operations and performance of Bolt Car Leasing.
  • Develop and execute business strategies to grow revenue, improve profitability, and strengthen the company's market position.
  • Set annual business targets, budgets, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Monitor business performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement appropriate action plans.
  • Identify new market opportunities, customer segments, partnerships, and leasing products.
  • Keep abreast of developments in Singapore's automotive industry, including COE trends, vehicle pricing, EV adoption, regulations, and competitor activities.

Sales & Business Development

  • Lead and support the sales team in achieving leasing and revenue targets.
  • Develop strategies to increase both corporate and individual leasing business.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key corporate clients, partners, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Review major quotations, tenders, leasing proposals, and commercial agreements.
  • Negotiate leasing terms and commercial arrangements where required.
  • Monitor lead generation, conversion rates, renewals, customer retention, and fleet utilisation.

Fleet Management

  • Oversee the company's vehicle fleet, including vehicle acquisition, replacement, utilisation, maintenance, and disposal.
  • Plan fleet purchases and renewal based on customer demand, market trends, vehicle costs, resale value, and expected returns.
  • Monitor vehicle utilisation and minimise unnecessary idle fleet.
  • Evaluate new vehicle models, including petrol, hybrid, and electric vehicles, for potential addition to the fleet.
  • Work closely with workshops, dealers, insurers, and other service providers to minimise vehicle downtime and operating costs.
  • Review the performance and profitability of different vehicle models within the fleet.

Operations & Customer Service

  • Ensure smooth daily leasing operations, including vehicle handovers, returns, servicing, replacement vehicles, accident handling, and customer support.
  • Establish and maintain operational procedures and service standards.
  • Handle escalated customer issues and resolve disputes in a professional and commercially reasonable manner.
  • Ensure customers receive timely and effective support throughout the leasing period.
  • Continuously improve processes to enhance efficiency and customer experience.

Financial & Commercial Management

  • Take responsibility for the overall financial performance of the business.
  • Review revenue, operating expenses, vehicle costs, maintenance expenses, insurance costs, depreciation, and fleet profitability.
  • Work with the finance team on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and management reporting.
  • Review leasing rates to ensure they remain competitive while achieving appropriate returns.
  • Evaluate the financial viability of vehicle purchases and fleet expansion.
  • Implement cost-control measures without compromising service quality.

Insurance, Claims & Risk Management

  • Oversee motor insurance arrangements, accident claims, excess matters, and related risk management.
  • Work with insurers, brokers, workshops, and customers on accident and insurance matters.
  • Review insurance coverage and premiums to ensure appropriate protection and cost effectiveness.
  • Manage operational and commercial risks associated with the vehicle fleet.
  • Ensure company policies and leasing practices comply with relevant regulations and contractual requirements.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, guide, and support employees across sales, operations, administration, and fleet-related functions.
  • Set clear responsibilities, targets, and performance expectations.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching where required.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and strong customer service.
  • Identify staffing and training requirements as the business grows.

Marketing & Brand Development

  • Work with the marketing team to strengthen Bolt Car Leasing's brand presence in Singapore.
  • Support digital marketing, website development, SEO, social media, advertising, and promotional activities.
  • Ensure marketing activities are aligned with the company's target customer segments and business objectives.
  • Develop initiatives to increase brand awareness, enquiries, customer retention, and referrals.
  • Monitor market trends and customer behaviour to ensure the company's offerings remain relevant and competitive.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Management, Automotive Management, or a related discipline.
  • Strong management experience, preferably within car leasing, automotive, rental, fleet management, or a related industry.
  • Good understanding of the Singapore automotive market and vehicle ownership environment.
  • Strong commercial and financial awareness.
  • Proven leadership and people-management capabilities.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and customer relationship skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple operational and commercial priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on environment and taking ownership of business results.
