We are partnering with a fast-growing, technology-driven financial services platform operating at the intersection of structured products, derivatives, and strategic investments.
Backed by strong leadership and an ambitious growth agenda, the company is seeking to appoint a General Counsel to serve as a key strategic advisor to the CEO and executive team.
This is a newly created, high-impact role based in Singapore with regional/global exposure.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and senior leadership on all legal, regulatory, and strategic matters
- Support business expansion initiatives, new product launches, and market entry strategies
- Lead and execute M&A transactions, joint ventures, and strategic investments
- Structure and advise on complex corporate and financing arrangements
- Provide legal oversight on derivatives, structured products, and trading-related activities
- Advise on documentation (e.g., ISDA frameworks), risk allocation, and regulatory implications
- Ensure compliance with applicable financial services regulations across jurisdictions
- Engage with regulators and external counsel on licensing, regulatory developments, and inquiries
- Oversee commercial contracting, including trading, financing, and vendor agreements
- Provide pragmatic, solutions-oriented advice to business teams
- Establish and maintain robust legal and corporate governance frameworks
- Identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks across the business
- Build and lead the legal function over time
- Manage external counsel efficiently across multiple jurisdictions
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with 12+ years of experience (top-tier law firm and/or in-house)
- Strong experience in derivatives and/or structured products (ISDA, trading documentation, etc.)
- Proven track record in M&A and corporate transactions
- Prior exposure to financial services, investment platforms, or capital markets environments
- Commercially minded, hands-on, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting
- Experience engaging with senior stakeholders and regulators
- Prior in-house experience and team leadership exposure is advantageous
