General Counsel
Overview
The Global Legal Counsel will lead the legal function across multiple regions and act as a strategic business partner to the executive leadership team. This role requires commercial judgement, M&A capability, and experience operating within a startup or scale-up environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Business Partnership
- Partner with the CEO, CFO, COO and investors on strategic initiatives
- Provide commercially focused legal advice aligned with business objectives
- Support international expansion across the US, EMEA and Middle East/Africa
- Deliver risk-based guidance with practical solutions
Mergers & Acquisitions / Investments
- Lead and support M&A transactions, investments and corporate structuring
- Manage due diligence processes and transaction documentation
- Advise on post-acquisition integration and governance matters
Global Legal Leadership
- Oversee and develop a team of Legal Counsel
- Establish legal frameworks, policies and governance structures across regions
- Manage external counsel across multiple jurisdictions
- Ensure compliance with local and international regulatory requirements
Commercial & Operational Legal Support
- Provide oversight on commercial contracts and strategic agreements
- Support fundraising activities and investor relations
- Advise on corporate, employment and regulatory matters
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with significant post-qualification experience
- Demonstrated M&A and investment transaction experience - mandatory
- In-house experience within a startup or scale-up environment - required
- Experience operating across multiple jurisdictions
- Proven ability to partner with executive leadership and investors
- Commercially focused approach with solution-oriented decision making
- Experience leading and developing legal teams
