OWNERSHIP

Hunter Douglas is privately owned, with 3G (a Brazilian global investment firm and private partnership built on an owner-operator approach to investing over a long-term horizon) as its main shareholder, who acquired it in 2021 and took it private in 2022.

The firm is best known for its long-term investments in , (, , , and ), as well as partnering with for itsacquisitions. The Sonnenberg family has a 25% ownership stake in Hunter Douglas.

POSITION SUMMARY

The APAC Legal Head will manage all legal and compliance matters across our operations in the region. Based in Singapore, the incumbent will provide legal leadership and counsel to the regional leadership team and support business operations in key APAC markets including but not limited to China, Australia, Southeast Asia, New Zealand, and India.

This position is critical to ensuring legal and regulatory compliance, protecting the company's interests, and supporting commercial success across diverse jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Advisory & Business Support

  • Serve as the primary legal advisor for all APAC business units.
  • Provide legal counsel on a broad range of corporate, commercial, regulatory, and employment matters.
  • Support strategic initiatives, partnerships, and joint ventures with legal risk assessments and mitigation strategies.

Commercial Contracts

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts including distribution, manufacturing, procurement, licensing, agency, and sales agreements.
  • Ensure contracts are aligned with global policies and local laws.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Implement and monitor regional compliance programs in areas such as anti-corruption (FCPA, UK Bribery Act), competition law, data protection, and export controls.
  • Lead training programs to foster a strong culture of compliance and ethical behavior.
  • Collaborate with internal audit, finance, and HR teams on compliance investigations and remedial actions.

Corporate Governance

  • Oversee legal aspects of corporate governance for regional entities, including board meetings, resolutions, and filings.
  • Manage relationships with local company secretaries and external legal counsel.

Dispute Resolution & Litigation Management

  • Handle pre-litigation disputes and manage litigation matters in coordination with external counsel.
  • Support internal investigations and coordinate responses to government inquiries or regulatory investigations.

People Leadership

  • Partner with global legal and functional leaders to align on global legal strategy and policies.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Required Qualifications:

  • Law degree from a recognized institution qualified to practice in at least one APAC jurisdiction.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of legal experience, including substantial in-house counsel experience in a multinational manufacturing or industrial company.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial law, compliance, employment law, and cross-border transactions in APAC.
  • Experience working in or with China, Australia, and Southeast Asia markets is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Business acumen and ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives.
  • Fluency in English proficiency in Mandarin or another Asian language is a plus.
