We're looking for a Game Economy Designer to own and evolve the progression and monetization economy for a mobile title with season-based live operations. You'll collaborate closely with product, design, engineering, and art to build systems that feel fair, engaging, and commercially sustainable, and you'll continuously tune them using live performance data post-launch.
What You'll Do
Progression Economy
- Design and tune progression pacing across core systems (e.g., city building, technology, hero growth).
- Build progression curves and support mechanics, including level scaling, gates, and catch-up systems.
- Align progression with seasonal cadence, balancing challenge, resource pressure, and long-term retention.
Monetization Economy (Key Focus)
- Design and tune monetization content for a global audience, including: Shop pricing and pack tiering, Battle pass/season pass, Season-linked paid features, First purchase and cumulative purchase offers.
- Translate payer experience goals (value, pacing, scarcity, thresholds) into clear, implementable numerical rules.
Economy Stability & Balance
- Maintain and continuously optimize the existing economy framework by analysing models, identifying potential risks, and recommending data-driven enhancements.
- Manage sources and sinks, inflation risks, and paid vs. free boundaries to ensure long-term economic stability.
Implementation & Live Tuning
- Own and maintain configuration data (Excel-based), including rule documentation, key parameters, and version tracking.
- Partner closely with Engineering and Art throughout implementation, integration testing, and release cycles.
- Drive post-launch iteration using live data and player feedback, optimizing progression pacing, monetization performance, and seasonal balance.
What We're Looking For
- 45 years of experience in game economy and/or monetization design (flexible for strong candidates with proven end-to-end delivery).
- Strong understanding of mobile F2P economies, including progression pacing, reward structures, and tuning methodology.
- Hands-on familiarity with common mobile monetization mechanics (packs, passes, pricing logic, paid milestones).
- Working knowledge of combat stats and rule systems, and how combat balance connects to progression and monetization.
- Strong Excel skills; able to independently build, manage, and maintain mid-sized configuration tables.
- Strong communication skills in English, with working proficiency in Mandarin for cross functional collaboration with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders (players/regional team members).
Bonus Points
- Experience with SLG, RPG, or card-based mobile titles.
- Hands-on experience with post-launch Live Ops, including seasonal updates and ongoing monetization optimization.
- Strong ownership mindset able to articulate and deliver a full development loop: Goal Design Release Data/Feedback Iteration (portfolio or case studies are a plus).
