Job Description

About the Role

You will join a small, cross-functional product team and work closely with backend engineers, product managers, and domain experts to develop and deliver the viewer for government agencies and industry users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop the web-based 3D IFC model viewer, from technical architecture through implementation.
  • Explore and evaluate suitable open-source libraries and technologies, including IFC parsers and WebGL frameworks.
  • Develop model navigation and inspection capabilities, including object selection, section cuts, property inspection, and related features.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers on server-side geometry processing and data APIs.
  • Optimise viewer performance for large and complex IFC models.
  • Troubleshoot technical challenges related to 3D rendering, geometry processing, and browser performance.
  • Continuously improve the viewer based on feedback from government agencies and industry users.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and familiarity with backend JavaScript runtimes such as Node.js or Deno.
  • Good understanding of 3D graphics and/or computational geometry concepts.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Willingness and ability to explore and learn new technologies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Good to Have

Experience or familiarity with any of the following would be advantageous:

  • Frontend, backend, or full-stack web development.
  • WebGL or 3D web frameworks such as Babylon.js.
  • Python and IFC-related libraries such as IfcOpenShell.
  • Building Information Modelling (BIM) concepts and IFC standards.
  • Geospatial data and information systems.
  • Agentic or AI-assisted software development.
